Chapter 24 - The Luna's Hidden Destiny

(Finn)

I could smell her as soon as they came downstairs, he had officially claimed her and marked her. Today she wore a loose-fitted grey sweater with white jeans. Her chocolate-wavy hair delicately framed her face and her mark was bared for all to see. Why did the sight of her make my wolf Titus go fucking crazy.

'We should have claimed her, that is a true Luna. You already fucked up our destined mate. Now you fucked this up too.'

He growled angrily, he was still mad at how I turned down our mate. He didn't talk to me for months after that. Now he talks to me, but it's always like this.

I suppressed a growl as they walked into the sitting room. Of course, Laura and Vincent just about threw another party for her. I was surprised Laura didn't print out a banner for this monumental occasion.

"Oh my sweet angel, what did that bad man do to you? My precious girl.." Blake started, humor lacing his voice as Laura and Tristan both smacked him on the back of the head.

Mila had the cutest look on her face, you could tell she was embarrassed but she didn't shy away. She just laughed and waved it off. Fuck she was something else.. what was it about this girl?

I could see Rowan was even more protective now, his eyes scanning every male in the room. Even his own fucking dad..seriously.

'Ready to go talk?'

I texted him, wanting to clear the air before I left. I needed to get some stuff off of my chest.

After checking his phone he just nodded sharply, sitting Mila down and practically telling her not to move an inch. He kissed her a lot more passionately than necessary and I knew he was sending a message.

He quickly walked past me, his eyes staring straight ahead and cold. Yeah..this was going to go great.

Once we went towards the study I walked up to the bar, pouring myself a scotch as I looked at him, raising my glass and asking if he wanted one. He shook his head no, well that was a first.

"What do you want Finn." He spoke directly and straight to the point.

"No, how did you sleep? Or thanks for coming to visit?" I said like a smart-ass.

"Cut the bullshit." He crossed his arms, leaning against the back of the couch as he glared at me.

"Fine, I just wanted to make sure you're not doing something you might regret later on." I took a long sip, looking up at him as I saw Bain flash forward.

"You're just jealous that I accepted my pretty little mate, are you having regrets Finn?" He said gruffly.

I scoffed, regrets? It would be a cold day in hell when I accept an omega for a mate.

"No, I am happy with my choice. I know where my mate comes from, where her bloodline has been. You on the other hand..how do you know she isn't a rogue and just lying?" I said, not even believing that myself but before I could even blink Rowan was at my throat, his hand reaching out and gripping my neck roughly.

"Don't you dare question my Luna like that again. Do you understand me?" He snarled, my head naturally going to the side as I submitted to this powerful Alpha. Fuck..he was stronger than ever, especially now.

I nodded my head like a coward and he let me go, my hand instinctively going up to my throat as I rubbed it.

'You are a joke of an Alpha.'

Titus laughed, pissing me off even more.

"I'm not questioning your Luna, I just am worried about you. You are like a totally different person now." I meant every word of this..it was true. It's like he had changed overnight.

"I just decided to grow up Finn and accept my fate that the moon goddess has chosen for me. If you would have given your mate a chance, I doubt you would be looking at mine the way you do." He clenched his hands into fists.

I couldn't even speak, his words cut deep, way too deep.

"I will tell you this only once. I will keep this friendship, but only if you promise to never look at my Luna like that again. But if I see one look, touch, sniff..anything. You will not be welcome back at Black Stone." He was curt and cutthroat. I felt my jaw drop from his words.

"You would break our alliance for your mate?" I couldn't believe this..what was he thinking.

"She isn't just my mate, she is the woman I love and the future of this pack, and if anything..and I mean anything..tries to get between that. Then yes, I would. But if you can actually grow some balls and support your long-time friend, and be happy for him, then there won't be any issues." I could see the look of hurt in his eyes, and I actually felt guilty.

Maybe I was jealous...maybe I saw something I could have had. I thought we would be in the same boat, that he would reject his mate too and take a chosen mate. Maybe I was bitter because now I have to live with that choice and Rowan gets the life I too could have had.

"Fine, I will back off. I just feel like there is more to her than you know though Ro. I'm not saying it to put doubt in your mind. Something is different about her, her presence.." I said, trailing off and looking down at my drink.

He sighed heavily, walking up to the bar and taking a glass. I filled it for him quickly, feeling like I am finally seeing a glimpse of my best friend again.

"I know, I feel it too. There is something off about her dad. I guess now that you're done being a dick, I can tell you about it." He said looking sideways, with that signature smirk on his face. I didn't take any offense with what he said, because I knew I really was being a dick.

(Mila)

I sat in the sitting room with Laura, Blake, Vincent, and Tristan. They were ecstatic about my mark and being mated. It was like I was officially part of the family. I felt all those angry emotions from the next room over. Whatever Finn and Rowan were talking about got heated at moments, but by the time it was over they came in the room with a hint of a smile on their faces. Finn looked at me, nodding his head slightly. I felt as if he were trying to apologize, for what...I have no idea but I just smiled brightly letting him know there was no bad blood on my end. Rowan practically ran to me, lifting me up swiftly and placed me on his lap as he sat back down. His lips found my throat as he kissed me gently on my mark, sending a shiver down my spine.

"So Mila, when would you like to hold the pack joining ceremony?" Vincent asked, taking a small sandwich from a plate a staff member had just brought in. Along with a tray of tea and cookies.

"I was thinking if we could wait until I found my dad. I would like him to join at the same time. If that's okay...I would just feel bad doing it all without him." I said looking down at my hands. I felt guilty enough for being marked without him knowing. He is going to be shocked.

"Of course, we can start some of the preparations now." He said with a kind smile and I couldn't help but smile back.

"Let's get it done soon, I need to mind link Mila about all of Rowan's deep dark secrets before she fully commits." Blake said winking and Rowan snarled at him.

"Speaking of secrets, where's the blonde Blake?" Finn asked, a wide grin on his face.

"Yeah where is Jessica, I haven't seen her around." Laura added, sipping her tea slowly.

'Jessica is Blake's girlfriend.'

Rowan linked to me and I nodded my head looking at Blake.

"Well, we actually broke up." He said, shoving a sandwich into his mouth quickly.

"You broke up?" Tristan scoffed, looking at him curiously.

"When?" Tristan seemed offended like Blake should have told him first. It was nice to see how Tristan did value their friendship.

"Uhm I think the night Mila came, so what, almost a week ago?" He stood, wiping the crumbs off of his pants.

"Aren't we supposed to be running a pack around here? You guys are slacking. I am going to the office, to get a head start." He swiftly left, not looking back as he left us all in confusion. I didn't even know he had a girlfriend, but then again, I did just get here barely a week ago. Dang everything was happening so fast.

Laura looked at Vincent, narrowing her eyes.

"What do you know.." she said, giving him a look. He swallowed hard, clearing his throat.

"Well, he just said he doesn't want to date around anymore." He said looking at his mate.

"That doesn't sound like our son.." Laura laughed.

"He said since seeing Rowan find his mate, he wants to wait for that." Vincent smiled, shrugging his shoulders and looking towards us.

"Let's just say he realized it was worth waiting for." He grinned at me and Rowan, making Rowan laugh.

"I can't believe I am going to say this, but Blake is actually right for once. It is worth waiting for." He crooned while placing a kiss on my head and I leaned into his chest, wrapping my arms around him and hugging him.

I noticed Finn watching us, it wasn't full of distaste or annoyance, it looked more like sadness.

"How come he didn't figure that out from the prime example of his loving parents." Laura teased, gesturing between her and Vincent.

"Because we're old dear..no one listens to the old guys." Vincent said, frowning to himself.

"Speak for yourself, I heard the 50's are the new 30's." She said winking at me.

"You keep telling yourself that." Tristan mumbled under his breath.

Laura snapped her head towards him.

"What was that gamma?" She said with a raised eyebrow. I couldn't help but giggle.

'We should have never left the bed this morning.'

Rowan groaned in our link, his hands rubbing my thighs as he pressed his lips against me.

"Uhm I better go back to work." Tristan stood straighter. About to leave when Rowan spoke to him.

"Tristan, come to my office in about an hour, I have a few things we need to cover." Rowan spoke cooly, and Tristan nodded his head before stepping out of the room.

"Well, that's my cue to leave then, got my own pack to run and stuff." Finn stood, walking over towards us as Rowan instinctively clutched me tighter.

"Mila, it was a pleasure to meet you, I hope you can make it over to Blue Moon soon." He said with a smile. I blinked up at him, smiling back.

"Thank you, I look forward to it." I really was, to see more of the community would be nice and to meet his future Luna.

"Ro, I will call you soon." Finn added and Rowan nodded, his arms tight around me as Finn left.

"Well, that ended better than I would have thought." Laura said while grabbing a cookie and taking a small bite.

"Are you sure you don't want to leave Mila with us while you get through a few of your meetings?" Vincent asked, his eyes hopeful as he stared at his son.

"No." Rowan didn't even hesitate. Causing Vincent to frown.

"I don't want to get in the way, it's okay if you need some time." I spoke softly, not sure if he just didn't want to hurt my feelings.

"You aren't leaving my side..please. I won't be able to focus if I don't see you all day." He whispered next to my ear, causing a smile to pull at my lips as I turned towards him and wrapped my arms around his neck, pulling myself up to kiss him. My lips tenderly grazing his.

"Okay..if you insist." I teased, causing him to growl and bite my lip playfully. Making me giggle excitedly.

"Well, I guess that answers that." Laura said with a huge smile, watching us with adoration.

"But we do need to have some girl time, to plan some things and go through some of the Luna stuff." Laura spoke looking at Rowan, telling him instead of me.

"We still have time, there is no rush." He spoke firmly, and his mom nodded looking at me as I smiled softly.

The idea of becoming Luna at first scared me, considering I had no idea what it entailed. But I knew for a fact that I wouldn't be doing this alone. Laura and Rowan would be by my side through the whole thing.

"Thank you, Laura, I am grateful to have you to help me through it all." I looked at her encouragingly, letting her know I wasn't pulling back and wanted to do it. She smiled brightly, as Vincent walked up behind her, squeezing her shoulder gently.

"Well if you need a break from the big guy, we had Blake put our numbers in your phone." He grinned and I completely forgot I had even gotten a new phone. I had no clue where it even was.

'I had Blake put it in my office so you can play with it while I do a few meetings.'

Rowan linked, his mouth pressed against my hair, as he breathed me in.

"We better get to work, walk with us, dad? So you can catch me up." He stood, making me stand with him as his arm wrapped around my waist. He didn't want me away from him for a single minute.

"I'm going to call a few venues, to see what's available for the pack ceremony." Laura said as Rowan nodded his head tightly.

'If this is too much too fast, please tell me. I don't want anyone to pressure you if you aren't ready.'

Rowan linked me, his eyes flashing to mine as I looked up at him.

'It's not too much, I just want my dad to be a part of it. I feel bad for doing all of this without him.'

I admitted, looking down at my hands as we continued to walk towards the elevator.

'I know baby, we will find him soon, I promise.'

He squeezed my waist, turning to his dad as they talked about some type of business they owned. I wondered about my dad..they couldn't find the cabin yet. I wondered where he was and I hoped he wasn't worried, he had to know I was alive. My dad was the best tracker I knew...
