Chapter Thirteen: Moving into The Packhouse (Part Two)
Tuesday Evening
Emerald's POV:
The rest of the ride back to the packhouse I remained quiet, listening to the quads talk about some rogue problem they had helped solve at the Red Crescent Pack. I knew the quads were merciless, but how they talked about Alpha Ezekiel ripping out their leader's throat gave me chills.
Probably sensing my uneasiness, Alpha Azrael changed the topic of discussion to the dinner party on Friday for Hannah and Luca, to which I was grateful. I didn't need to think about how my supposed mates would become ruthless creatures when needed.
The conversation remained light, with the quads asking what I was planning to wear on Friday and if my friends would be coming. I replied with the shortest possible answers, not wanting to go into too much detail about my friends. I knew if I slipped any mention of Eli, it would probably trigger them. Wolves tend to be possessive about their mates, and them being Alphas would heighten their emotions tenfold.
I knew they had multiple girlfriends before I was in the picture, and them reacting to any of my past endeavours would be hypocritical. I just didn't need any extra drama regarding my past relationship breaking out, nor did I want them to lose their heads when Eli came on Friday. I wasn't planning on lying if they ever asked me, but I wasn't voluntarily giving out information either that would end up with me getting handed more rules to abide by, or probably stopping being friends with Eli.
My chain of thought was broken when I heard Alpha Samael call out my name,
"Baby, mind telling us where you were today? The principal mentioned that your attendance in your classes was marked absent throughout the day,” said Alpha Samael.
Uh oh! I didn't think the principal would bother telling them that I had skipped the entire day.
"Ugh, actually, I went to the forest. I just needed to clear my head and think about whatever has happened,” I replied. There was no point in lying. I hadn't done anything wrong, though skipping my classes could be wrong, especially since I'm on a scholarship. However, I was still on the academy grounds, it wasn't like I ran away.
"Luna, that's fine; like I said before, we know it's a big change for you, and it'll take some time for you to grasp everything. But you shouldn't be roaming around the woods without telling anyone. It's dangerous,” said Alpha Ezekiel, with a bit of a scowl playing between his eyebrows.
I understand that, but it wasn't like I left the academy grounds.
"I understand that, Alpha! But I was on academy grounds; students go there all the time, I was safe, and Hannah knew where I was. We came back together,” I said. I knew that talking back to any of the quads could land me in some serious trouble, but I didn't like how they were treating me like a child. I was more than capable of taking care of myself, I wanted them to know that.
"We understand that angel, but now you're the pack's future Luna, things have changed. We have a lot of enemies, and anyone who would want to hurt the pack or us can do so by hurting you,” said Alpha Zaqeil, before I could reply, Alpha Azrael spoke,
"My love, I know it'll take a bit of time to adjust to these changes, but all we care about is your safety. So please, next time, if you plan on going somewhere secluded, tell us, or Luca, if we're not around. It'll keep our wolves and us at peace,” to which I just nodded and stayed quiet.
I knew whatever the quads had just said was right. They didn't achieve the title of the fiercest pack Alphas for nothing, they probably had tons of enemies, not to mention a bunch of upset ex-girlfriends now too, since they had found me.
Not long after we reached the packhouse, the quads helped me get my stuff out of the car and into their private quarters.
"Luna, preferably, we would want you to sleep with us all, but we know you're not comfortable yet. We can show you a couple of rooms, and you can choose one for yourself for the time being,” said Alpha Ezekiel. At least they were giving me a say in something, I thought while I rolled my eyes in my head.
"Uhm, thank you, Alpha. I was wondering if I could get a room next to Hannah,” I replied, praying that they didn't make a fuss or anything. I wanted to be close to my best friend to feel safer even though I knew the quads wouldn't let anyone hurt me, but I didn't want to take any chances.
But by the scowls playing between their eyebrows and lips, my idea to stay next to my best friend seemed farfetched now.
"No!” said Alpha Ezekiel.
I just raised my eyebrows and crossed my arms over my chest, asking to be explained why I couldn't be close to my best friend. I had no clue where the sudden boldness came from, but I had already acted on it, so now there was no point backing down. I just hope I don't make them angry.
"Baby, Hannah and Luca stay in their private Beta quarters on the other side of the packhouse. You are to stay here in our private quarters,” said Alpha Samael, his tone held a hard edge, probably to indicate my room choice wasn't an option anymore.
Well, crap! How was I supposed to convince them to let me stay in different quarters when they couldn't stop being practically attached to the hip with me.
Ahh, Moon Goddess, why me?
"Alpha, I would feel more comfortable if I was around Hannah, since I don't know anyone here. Plus, it's not like you're always going to be around, you have pack duties to look over,” I tried reasoning with the quads.
I could see the hurt dancing in their eyes, probably because I mentioned I would feel safer around their Beta and his mate than them.
"Sorry, my love! This is not up for discussion, and regarding you being left alone, that won't happen. One of us will always be here with you until we think you've settled in, marked and mated and ready to take up your Luna duties, so that isn't a problem you need to worry your pretty little head about,” said Alpha Azrael.
They can't be serious right now, can they?
Even if one of them were to be with me all the time, I didn't know how much we could talk or spend time together. I didn't even know when I would let them mate me, that is if they didn't reject or cheat on me before that. Despite being with Eli, we never actually had sex. We always said that we would wait till the mate bond hits us so we could make the moment special.
Oh no! Why am I thinking about him right now? I didn't need to be more upset about the matter than I already was.
Plus, I hardly knew them, and my shy personality wouldn't help me earn any points with them. My train of thought was broken when Alpha Zaqeil cleared his throat, probably to get his two cents on my misery.
"How about this angel? Hannah and Luca can move into the spare bedroom next to yours until you've settled in,” said Alpha Zaqeil.
Why hadn't I thought of that? It was a perfect idea.
I knew it was selfish to move my best friend from her quarters, but seeing how she was okay with her brother's suggestion and didn't impose meant she liked the idea. The beaming megawatt smile she passed me also told me my thoughts were correct.
"However…,” Alpha Zaqeil continued,
Uh-oh! I knew it was too good to be true, they most probably wanted something in return, to lay down more so-called rules or something.
"… you're to stop calling us by our titles and just our names,” he finished, smirking. I saw the rest of the quads grinning with their six-foot six-inch height towering over my five-foot two-inch stature. I was a midget compared to them.
I sighed, I guess this was fine.
At least they didn't imply any more unnecessary rules.
"Okay," I replied very reluctantly.
"Okay, who?" asked Alpha Zaqeil, while a smirk played on the corner of his lips.
"Z..Zaqeil,” I said while looking down.
"Zeke,” he replied.
Huh?
"Call me Zeke, angel,” said Alpha Zaqeil.
"And call me Sam, Samael is too f*****g formal for my baby to call me,” said Alpha Samael.
"Okay, Alp…Ah I mean Zeke and Sam,” I replied. The quads were practically beaming.
That gave me a warm feeling, I liked the idea that I could make them happy.
Huh! Where are these thoughts coming from?
Get a hold of yourself, Em!
I know they are my supposed fated mates, but I can't afford to fall for them until I'm sure they won't reject or cheat on me, or if they were even my mates. I wouldn't be able to handle that.
"Alright, big bros, I know you want to have Em all to yourself, but let her settle in and unpack. Come on, Em, I'll show you the best room here and your new mating den,” said Han, as she grabbed my hand and went towards the stairs without waiting for a reply from her brothers, saying the last part in a whisper, however I still heard it.
I blushed scarlet.
I could hear the quads grumbling something under their breath while Luca chuckled, not long after Hannah showed me to my new room. I was stunned, it was glamorous!
It had beautiful beige walls and an accent grey wallpaper embossed with motives behind the four-poster bed, that could probably fit at least six people. I wonder why they would need such a big bed in the guest room. There was a huge eighty-eight-inch TV above the fireplace on the wall, with a royal blue velvet sofa in front of it. On the other side of the room, I could see two stairs that led to a living room type area with another royal blue sectional, and coffee table in the middle. The room was huge, nothing like the room I had slept in last night. It was bigger than the whole dorm the girls and I shared at the academy.
Leaving me alone with my eyes hanging out and mouth agape, Hannah departed, saying we would meet up later. The quads had yet to ask someone to bring my suitcases to the room, so I decided to shower in the meantime.
The bathroom wasn't any less glamorous either, it was as if it was made for royalty. A jacuzzi type bathtub on the side was surrounded by four sparkling white pilers. Adjacent to it was the shower stall that could probably fit at least six people or more into it, with shower jets all over the walls. A long mirror was on top of a black marble countertop with his and hers basins, and black marble tiles adorned the floor.
I quickly shed all my clothes and took a shower. I was surprised to see all the brand new toiletries already placed on the shower shelves. I wonder who told the quads what products I used. I was grateful though, because I forgot to pack mine back at the academy. I shampooed and conditioned my hair, and quickly lathered and washed in the rose-scented body wash next to the new shampoo and conditioner.
I grabbed the towel robe hanging in the closet, it looked to be my size as well. When did the quads get the time to do all this? Unconsciously, a smile crept up my lips; it was adorable how they had made sure that I had everything I needed.
Ughh! There I go again!
Focus Em, focus!
If they keep these little things up, I might fall for them quicker than intended, and I had no clue how that’d turn out.
