Chapter 15 - Emerald Eyed Luna

Waking up to birds chirping and a slight breeze hitting my face from the open window is probably the best way to wake up. I am not sure why I am worn out but I have been giving so much information. I am still trying to process it. We still have 7 hours left on our trip to reach our destination. Dragging my feet, I made the trek to the shower. It was a basic shower, floor to ceiling black marble tile and a clear glass door. The black tile ran the length of the bathroom and was paired with a white vanity with two sinks. Still, the bathroom was stacked with all the needed supplies a girl could want. I rummaged through the drawer till I found the shampoo and conditioner. Towels were stacked above the toilet in a cabinet and there were even samples of lavender fragrance oils to put in the shower to relax you. Hanging a strand of lavender from the shower head, I turned the water on hot. It didn’t talk long before the whole bathroom was misted over and I was in heaven. Letting the hot water massage my neck and back, I just stood there thinking.

“Raven, I just have a feeling something is going to happen today” I said.

“Yeah, I felt that way last night, I am not sure what it is though. We should be alert. I am going to go to sleep since I stayed up all night. I will be here if you need me though” and with that Raven circled a few times in the back of my mind before she laid down, sighed and started snoring loudly in my head.

“You awake!?” Zach yelled in my head. I swear, his morning personality was his most annoying trait.

“Fuck, yes. Stop yelling”, I grumbled “I am showering and will be down shorty”

“Okay, we are getting ready to eat breakfast and then we need to head out, a long drive ahead of us. Plus, I don’t really want to stay here longer than needed. I don’t get a good feeling about this place.”

“Yeah, me either” I said, and closed the link. Sighing, I turned the shower off and grabbed my towel and dried off. Thankfully, Zach brought me my bag, so I grabbed simple pink leggings and a black crop top and sports bra to match, and grabbed my black sneakers. I left my hair down and braided it off to the side and applied lotion to my face. I don’t really care about my looks, since all I will be doing today is driving.

Making my way down stairs with my bad, I can hear whispering. I stopped and listened. “I don’t think she knows who they are” a male said with a deep raspy voice.

“Well, it’s his family, does he know?” a second voice said but slightly higher pitch.

“Woman, use your fucking brain, we were told they kept him a secret from everyone. I already told you too much as it is. Fuck. Just go away before you spoil everything”

Hearing footsteps, I quickly ran to the nearest door and ran in. It just happened to be another bathroom. I heard someone stop outside the bathroom, so I quickly flushed the toilet and washed my hands. Opening the door, I was met by a guy who screamed danger. Towering over me, he had tattoos covering both arms, blonde hair and was pulled into a man's bun at the base of his neck, a cut off black vest, blue jeans that had more holes in them than anything and military style black boots. He was solid muscle and had those eyes that bore into your soul.

“Oh, hi. I am finished now, your welcome to head in.” I said lamely.

“Hmm” was all he said and walked away. I made my way to the kitchen and the mystery man was not there. Zach's eyes found me and narrowed in and could tell something had happened. I quickly shook my head and made my way to the empty chair across from him. There was a light spread of waffles, fruit, pancakes, sausage and orange juice. Grabbing a plate, I chose pancakes with chocolate chips and sausage.

“When are you guys leaving?” Alpha Alex asked. I didn’t get a negative vibe per say but I didn’t get a ‘please stay as long as you want’ vibe either.

“As soon as we are done eating, we will head out. Thank you for your hospitality, sir.” I said, looking him in the eyes. It is a sign of respect and I did not want him to think we didn’t appreciate it even though we couldn’t leave fast enough.

“Sounds good. I will not be able to see you off, but my warriors will allow you to pass. I recommend staying on the highway from here on out to avoid any more rogues.”

“Yes, sir. Thank you again” Zach said, nodding his head. Alpha Alex got up and left. After that, it was just Zach and I left now.

“You ready to go?” Zach said as I stuffed the last bite of sausage into my mouth.

“Yes, please,” I said, and we made our way to the front door. I paused for a second, feeling a pair of eyes on me. I turned quickly and didn’t see anyone, so I shook it off as maybe just a pack member being curious.

“Here I will drive”, Zach said, and I fully agreed. I didn’t want to drive with all this new information in my head. I didn’t relax till we were finally outside his territory and headed to the Smoky Mountains.

“Why were you so weird when you came into the kitchen?” Zach asked finally.

“So, I overheard two people talking. One a male and one a female. The man wondered if a girl knew of someone and the female said it was actually his family. I didn’t understand it but he flipped out on the girl and I heard her coming, so I ran to the bathroom and pretended to pee. When I came out, a guy was standing right by the door and was watching me. Like he was trying to find out who I was or something. Creepy guy. Either way, I made an excuse and went to the kitchen.” I finished with my story.

“Did he say anything to you?”

“No, just said “hmm” and then walked away. It probably was nothing anyway. I doubt it was even about us.”

After that, we fell into a comfortable silence. Neither of us spoke and we just enjoyed being free. I had the windows rolled down and I kicked my shoes off and had my feet on the dash. I loved the feel of the wind in my hair.

“You do realize today was graduation, right?” Zach said.

“Hmm yeah, I guess you are right. Maybe wherever we stay tonight, we can let Raven and Max out and let them run.”

“Sounds good to me.”
