Wyatt POV
I was pissed. I wonder how much dad knew about this girl he let into our pack. She is running around with my sisters! If she is the target, then she is putting my sisters in danger too. The more I am learning, the more I feel like she is not who she said she was. Why would rogues be after a random girl that randomly decided to go on vacation?
I half stomped myself to my dad’s office and knocked on the door. “Come in” I heard from the other side. Opening the door, I saw my mother on the couch and my dad behind his desk.
“What did the rogues say” Dad asked. He didn’t even look up from the paper he was reading.
“What’s wrong?” My mom asked as she was analyzing my face. Dad snapped his head up and looked at me too. Instantly he stood up and was ready to go.
“The rogues are after a girl, a girl with green eyes and green jewelry with dark hair. I think they mean Nina. What do you know about her dad? She is with my sisters. Are they in danger?” I asked, trying to remain calm.
Dad got a look on his face and turned around and walked back over to his desk and sat down. It looked like he was deep in thought. Finally, he said, “Son, what do you know about ‘The Three Bandits’?”
Puzzled, I sat down in one of the two arm chairs in front of his desk. “They are someone you hire when you don’t want to get your hands dirty” I said. We have never used them in the past and have actually tried a couple of times to put an end to them, but without any proof and transaction or evidence, we couldn’t do much.
“Nina and Zach ran into them and killed them before they came here. The day before, actually. Apparently, while on vacation, they just happened to stumble across them and the two of them killed them.” I was stunned. My mouth was hanging open. She did what? Could she fight? I guess I knew she could do a little by punching Samantha, but fuck. She could hold her own. But what does this mean? “Apparently, she had never heard of them before then. I reached out to the other pack. She killed them around and they said they heard wolves fighting and when they got there, they were dead and Zach and Nina were perfectly fine. They seemed unwilling to really talk to me, but that is what they told me. I don’t believe she is a danger to this pack, but I do fear, and now know that someone is after her. I have been watching her and waiting to see what kind of person she is. That is why I invited her to stay till your party. If she is here, the punishment is up to me if necessary.”
I knew dad’s punishments. If she proves to have brought harm to the pack, she will pay with her life. Dad does not mess around with the pack’s safety. “I still feel like we are not getting the full story though. What else do you know?” I asked.
Dad looked at mom, mom looked troubled. “Her boyfriend ended up being mated to her best friend and then rogues attacked the pack. They ended up killing her parents. She is on her own now. No loose ends.”
I knew what he meant by ‘no loose ends'. If she needed to be killed, no one would come looking for her. I can’t believe it. She has been through so much in a short amount of time. It did ease my mood, but damn if I knew what to make of this.
“I honestly don’t know what to say” I said.
“We will do as we have been, we will watch from a distance and let her tell us what kind of person she is. Come Saturday, we will either let her leave or do as she wished or kill her. We do need to find out more about these rogues though. Send Maverik to find more information on the situation. On the downlow, we do not need this getting out. Increase border patrol and keep them attentive. If she is innocent, we do need to protect her and the pack. I will not tolerate an innocent person being harmed!”
“Yes, sir.” I got up and walked out the door. I immediately smelled pizza. I called Maverik first and gave him his assignment and then called Justin to get on organizing border patrol. By the time I finished with my phone calls, I found myself in front of the game room. They had ordered pizza and were about to turn on a movie.
“Hey, you going to just stand there like a creeper or are you going to join us?” Kelly asked.
“Hey sis, how did shopping go?” I asked.
She stopped in the hallway and got a sad look on her face. “We didn’t get much shopping done, when Liam here there was rogues, he brought us back. We did get dresses for your party though!”
“Ah, shit, sorry sis. I will find another day for shopping, but for now let’s just do online shopping, okay?” I asked. I did feel a little bad, but I would feel better if they were close.
“Yeah, whatever. We are going to watch a movie. Want to join?”
“Not really, I am going to grab a slice of pizza then go do some paperwork” I said. I had a mountain of paperwork on my desk.
“You never hang out with us anymore. So serious all the time!” Kelly said and rolled her eyes.
She stomped past me and I started following her to the pizza. As soon as I was about to grab a piece, someone bumped into me, causing my hand to smash into the hot pizza sauce.
“FUCK!” I yelled,
“Oh, sorr….” I started to hear a girl apologize before I realized who it was. I went to grab her arm tightly. Nina’s eyes were wide as saucers and had a partly panicked look, but I saw her fist instantly clinch and she was ready to swing too. I loosened my grip on her arm and let her go. She will have bruises where my hand was.
“Oh my god! It was an accident, Wyatt! We were playing and I pushed her, you didn’t need to grab her like that!” Ashley screamed at me. I gave Nina a quick once over. She was wearing light green shorts that came to just below her ass and a black tank top. Her cleavage was spilling out. Damn if she was fucking sexy as hell. She obviously just showered as I could smell her shampoo on her. Her hair was still slightly wet with a nice wave to it.
“My apologies, ma’am”, I said sarcastically.
Nina just rolled her eyes, grabbed a piece of pizza and walked off to sit down on the couch. I watched her hips swayed and how her ass bounced a little. Fuck, I was getting hard. Well, dad did say keep watch over her. I grabbed my own piece and followed her and sat down beside her. There was 3 other people on the couch already so she was almost sitting on my lap. I could do this kind of babysitting anyway! Kelly sat on the floor and gave me a ‘I saw that’ look on her face. I plastered a completely innocent look on my face and shrugged my shoulders.
“Alright! We are watching ‘The Conjuring’!” Brooke said happily. I don’t particularly like scary movies. I can’t sleep with Nina if she is the enemy, so I will need to keep my focus. It is so damn hard with how fucking sexy she looks right now and how good she smells.
After about 30 minutes, Nina fell asleep and her head rolled over to my shoulder. I scooted over and repositioned myself so she would be more comfortable on me and I made it look like I didn’t mean for this to happen. No one could know I actually found her attractive. I needed to remain neutral. Zach looked over at me and saw Nina sleeping and he frowned. I watched him glance down at Brooke who was clinging to him for her dear life. I couldn’t tell if he wanted Nina or if he was happy with Brooke. Either way, I did not like how he looked at Nina. I almost let out a growl at that. If he even touched her, I would kill him. I will have to have a talk with him sooner rather than later, but I will need to keep a better watch over Nina. I am telling myself it is because she could be in danger and not because I want to fuck her.
“We need to talk, Wyatt”, Zach said. I looked over at him and he was staring into my eyes. Dead serious.
