Chapter 13
Gabi’s POV
Before I nodded off, Luna Liz had me rescind my position as a member of the pack. I did it, and I felt a weight off of me at that time. I also heard a faint yell coming from the packhouse and I saw Luna Liz purse her lips about two minutes later, but she said nothing to me about it. I see Beta Lewis glance over to her and I hear her say in a low tone, “Do not answer him. I told him I was visiting my sister in San Francisco. I do not want him to know where I am taking Gabi. Do not answer either of them if they mindlink you. I can Luna command you if you feel better about it. But I just realized what is going on here with Monty, and I cannot allow it. He is a disgustingly vile man, and when this plays out, I hope he and Derek get every single thing that they earned from it”.
Luna Liz looks up at me in the rearview mirror and gives me a smile, “Gabi, you are safe, go to sleep. It is less than two hours away, but they can keep you safe there. My sister Yvonne is the Luna of the Ever Green pack, and they both know that we are coming. Her husband Heath and Von are very excited about taking you in. They never had children of their own and they know that you are an orphan right now. They both have special skills that I need you to attain before we move any further with this. I would also want to speak to you alone, as well as my sister Von, about what has happened this week, without any of the men around. I know now that your parents, Claire, and Percy, have given you a hint that you were not their biological child, right?” Luna Liz asks me, and I heard Tala tell me that it is OK to answer that question.
I nodded, and said in a low tone, “I just turned 18. Well, actually I don't know when my birthday is. My birthday is actually the day that they found me, not my actual birthday, and they told me what happened and that they found me”.
“Hold on to your things, Gabi, and when the time comes, I am thinking about six months from now, I will go with you to help you speak to your birth parents. There is no rush to do that right now. Everything that you thought you knew in your life has changed. But I will tell you, Gabi, that your parents, Claire and Percy, died protecting you. If the rogues had known that you were there, they would have killed you too. I don’t know exactly what is going on about these rouges. I will try to find out what is going on with them, as we haven’t been attacked in over ten years. You need to accept the help you get from Heath and Von. They are good people and I believe that you need the skills that Heath can provide for you. I just want you to take this time and try to heal from all your trauma and see if what Heath can teach you is something that you want to learn. If it is not, we won’t force you to learn it, but I can feel it, the power of your wolf right now Gabi, even with her being new to you, that she is a leader and a fighter. She is going to take this like a duck to water, she is a survivor and if what I think happened, is what actually happened, there will be a lot of payback being pushed out onto one really deserving asshole. Sit back, Gabi, I will have us there in less than two hours now. Traffic is lighter now that it is after 9. We will be there soon” Luna Liz tells me and turns the music off in the car as we roll quickly down the interstate.
I don’t know what all Luna Liz has figured out, but I know she has figured something out and she is pissed. I know I didn’t do it, so I am not worried at all, but I made myself comfortable in my seat and used my duffle bag as a pillow, and drifted off to sleep. Tala tells me that I can trust these two, and I do. I slept better than I thought I would in a strange vehicle with them, as I don’t know Luna Liz very well at all. She was the Luna and only came around the Omegas to give us our instructions on work, and what the upcoming events we needed to prepare for, and that was pretty much it. Justin was one of Derek’s good friends, who was actually from another pack. Derek liked him and trusted him, so he took him over as his Beta. Heather’s dad used to be the Beta, and he still does some things around the pack that Alpha Monty allows, but with Derek taking over in two months, Justin is the official Beta, plus he won it fair and square. I like Justin because when he saw what Jack was trying to do to me yesterday, he punched him and knocked him out. He also tried to defend me to the Alpha, before he found out that the Alpha didn’t care, because I wasn’t actually raped. I just happen to know for a fact, that even if I had been, I have a strong feeling that he still wouldn’t care about what had been done to me.
I nodded off and it seemed like I had only slept for about 15 minutes when I heard Luna Liz tell me, “We are here Gabi” before pulling up to the gate. The warriors at the gate let us straight through as they had already been informed that Luna Liz was on her way with two passengers and to let us in. We pulled up to the front of the packhouse at a little after 11 pm, and we were greeted by 4 people. A lady that looks a lot like Luna Liz comes down the steps and hugs Liz tightly and then looks over at me. Luna Yvonne was a very attractive woman in her low to mid-fifties, with the same blonde hair that Luna Liz had, except that her hair was really long, down to her waist, and her eyes were blue instead of brown. Their facial features were the same and I am assuming that they both looked like their mother. The man who came down to her side made me feel very safe all of a sudden. He had nicely trimmed brown hair, a little longer on top and shaved on the sides and back, with grey at the temples, he was about 6’4 and had a very solid chest. He looked very strong, and he had kind eyes. They were blue-grey and they twinkled in the light. He was looking at me, as was Luna Yvonne, and they were being very quiet as if they were trying to let me decide if I felt comfortable with them, or not.
The couple standing behind them were both in their early twenties and they both came forward when I looked at them. The woman spoke for them both and said, “Hello, this is Eli, and I am Fawn Gardner. We are the Beta couple for this pack. I had your room made up for you tonight, and you will be on the Alpha floor as it has the most rooms, and we have been told that your security is important to Luna Liz. We have heard that you have had a really bad week and we are all here for you. Nothing is going to happen to you here. You are safe with us” She finishes in a gentle tone and her mate nods behind her. I see they are wearing matching rings and I know that some mated couples are doing that these days and having a wedding ceremony when they have the mating ceremony or for the Beta or Gamma when they have their mates sworn in.
“Both Justin and I will be spending the night too and will see you at breakfast. I think that we will also take you shopping after breakfast. Those are all your worldly possessions? Everything that you own in the world is in that duffle bag. Including your baby items, and shoes?” Luna Liz asks, and Fawn and Yvonne both look surprised.
“I have my 4 books, my dress shoes for when we do catering events, and the outfit for catering, my photo album, and my two t-shirts,” I told her.
“What about the clothes I gave you on Friday after the incident?” Luna Liz asked me.
“Jack tore them off me today. They were destroyed”, I told her, and I heard both Fawn and Luna Yvonne make a little gasp.
“You will be safe here with us little one, no one will be hurting you here. I will even go with you to the mall tomorrow if you want me to. I really hate to shop, but if it would make you feel safer, with me going with you, I would be happy to go”, I heard a deep voice speak and I looked over to Alpha Heath with his hand slung over Luna Yvonne’s shoulder and looking at me with a serious expression.
“I agree, we can discuss it at the breakfast table in the morning. I think that a trip to the mall would be good for all of us to go. It will do us all good to go, and Luna Liz can drive their vehicle and we can take one of ours and that will allow all three of you big strong men to be able to go with us, to keep us all safe” Fawn said, and I know she did it to make me more comfortable. I appreciated the offer from Alpha Heath, but I really only know Justin in this equation, and I would feel safest with him present, as he had already defended me once and was effective at it. I see Justin and Luna Liz both nod as if Fawn were very wise to suggest that I come with them, and we all head inside the packhouse.
Justin was staying on the Beta floor, and his room had already been prepared, and he got off the elevator on the 5th floor with Fawn and Eli. The rest of us went up to the 6th floor, which was the Alpha floor, and this packhouse was huge. Actually, way bigger than the one we have at Red River pack. I wonder how many people stay here. Luna Yvonne walks next to me but doesn’t touch me and leads me down the hallway. We stop at the first room and Luna Liz tells me that this is her room and that I will be sleeping between her room and Alpha Heath and Luna Yvonne’s room, as she wanted me next to their room, just in case. In case of what? Because I have no idea, but I am actually really interested in knowing what Alpha Heath’s skill sets are, all of a sudden. All I get rolling off of him is strength and confidence. For some reason, I feel as safe with him and Luna Yvonne, as I did with my parents, Claire and Percy, and I was with them for 16 years. I tear up thinking about my parents and Luna Yvonne hugs me tightly and tells me that they will be next door if I need them, and she opens up the door to the room I will be staying in.
If I had ever had a dream room, it would be this room. It had tan walls and white trim, an accent wall that had the same color tan as was painted on the wall, and a white design pattern that was just beautiful. The room had a canopy bed that looked like it had been designed for a princess. The comforter was so soft that I felt bad touching it, as I was still dirty from hiding in the cellar under the tarp for over two hours while waiting for someone to come and find me. I went to the bathroom, and it was beautiful too. White subway tiles were on the walls of the shower with the door being a glass door to let in the light. There was a soaker tub that I ached to get in, but as far as tonight went, I was going to take a shower, get a t-shirt on, and hit that beautiful bed. The shower had already been fully stocked with more than I would ever need in it, and I smelled lovely. When I got a job, I would make sure that I kept getting more of the body wash because the smell of it was very lovely and calming, and I was ready to sleep. I was a little hungry because the last I had today was a few bites of lunch because I was too scared to eat very much with how anxious I was about when Jack would pop up again.
I forbade myself to think about Jack right now as I pulled back the covers, climbed into bed, and laid down. I have never slept on anything as soft as this mattress. It was like a lovely, fluffy cloud and it felt so good to rest my weary body on it.
This has been a long week, and I hope that I never again have to deal with a week like this. I nod off thinking about going shopping tomorrow. I guess I can take like $200 with me to get a second pair of jeans, a new pair of sneakers, some t-shirts, and a big pack of underwear, socks, and a few bras because I have lost two pairs of underwear and bras recently due to Jack.
I fell asleep a lot quicker than I thought I would, but around three am I felt arms on me and voices crying out to me. I started to fight as I felt like it was Jack again, but I heard a woman’s voice near my ear telling me, “Wake up, it was just a nightmare. You are OK, Gabi, wake up”. I opened my eyes to see Luna Liz and Luna Yvonne standing above me with Alpha Heath trying to get around them, as he thought something was really wrong with me.
“Is she OK?” he asked, concerned.
“She will be, Heath”, Luna Liz told him and looked at me with concern.
“I am going to sleep with her the rest of the night” Luna Liz finally announced to the group, and I didn’t argue with her. I woke up scared, and I might sleep better with her in here with me.
Alpha Heath and Luna Yvonne both look very concerned, but they step back as Luna Liz goes to the other side of this huge king-sized canopy bed. Alpha Heath and Luna Yvonne tell me good night and exit the room, shutting the door behind them.
“I didn’t tell them the whole story, I just told them about the rouge attack and you losing your parents. You don’t have to tell them, but I think it would be best if you did. They both love children and were never blessed to have any. They will take care of you like you are their own if you let them. They both have a lot of love to give and always wanted a child, but it never worked out for them. So tomorrow, if you want, I can take Yvonne aside and give her the quick version of how your week has gone, and she can relay it to Heath. I think that would be best as I feel like you would be uncomfortable having to relay with a male present exactly what happened. I say it will help, so they can help you deal with the emotional scarring that he has done, and all the emotional scarring of you being abused the last two years. They need to know so they can help you through it, Gabi. But it is your choice what, if anything, that we tell them, OK Gabi?” Luna Liz tells me, and I nodded to her in agreement.
