*Jason POV*
When Loki said he needed to talk to me and Liam about an emergency, I sure as hell wasn't expecting this to be the emergency. What are the odds of this stupid brat ending up here at Blood Moon? Just our luck. Rebecca and I could explain our presence here easily, it's Mel we have to protect and hide. Should be easy enough, right? Let's hope so.
Once she shut her trap for longer than 2 seconds, I answered her. "My family knows exactly where we are, and even if they don't, I am a grown-ass man who can come and go whenever and to where ever I want. My comings and goings are none of my family's business and it sure as fuck is none of yours. Alphas Liam and Loki are my in-laws, so I have a perfectly good reason to be here. You, on the other hand, I owe zero explanation, but here you go. When my sister...died..I needed to get away. There is a lot of chaos right now in my family, and I can't deal with it. So, I came here to spend time with Rebecca's family. Not that it's any of your business."
She crossed her arms over her chest like she wanted to say something but knew she didn't have a leg to stand on. "What do you mean 'when your sister died'?" she retorted. "You didn't know? Melian is dead. Was left for dead in the old abandoned warehouse by Twilight Lake." I sneered at her. The expression on her face went blank, and she took a step backwards. "I..i.. I'm sorry. I didn't know. I'm sorry for your loss." she whispered.
She turned and quickly made her way out of the hospital doors. Liam looked at both Loki and I and said, "That was too close. Liam looked at his aunt and explained why I had said what I did. I then asked her to keep Melian really being alive a secret, for now. She agreed and hugged me and apologized. She assured us that she would get Lisa off of pack territory as soon as possible.
We were talking about what just happened and we heard a scream coming from down the hall. "What the hell?" I said and took off running down the hall. Entering Mel's room, she was lying on the floor screaming in pain. Liam kneeled down beside her and tried to calm her. "She's burning up. I think she is trying to go through her first shift."Rebecca agreed and told the twins to stay with her and give her as much contact as possible. "How can she be going through her first shift? It's not a full moon or a moon out at all." I questioned.
My question went unanswered and Rebecca sent me to get Dr. Flores, because we needed to move her somewhere safer than this room. Unfortunately, Dr. Flores was in surgery, but the head nurse brought a wheelchair and told us to go out the back of the hospital into the woods. She came with us to help monitor Melian's injuries during the shift.
"It's OK sis, we are taking you somewhere private so that you can do this. You are so strong, Mel. You are going to do great!" I kept telling her as I pushed the wheelchair. Loki and Liam, on each side of her holding her hands, helped calm the pain a little. Rebecca urged us to go faster as hair started to sprout on my sister's skin. "Over there, under that canopy of trees. It's far away enough, but still close enough in case something were to happen," the head nurse said.
By this time, Mel's breathing was labored and she was drenched in sweat. Her eyes flashed between her normal emerald green to a dark black. As another shock of pain radiated through her body, she curled up into a ball while still in the wheelchair. "Liam, we need to get her on the ground," Rebecca said. We finally reached the spot the nurse pointed out and Loki and Liam picked Mel up and laid her on the mossy ground. They stepped back and she screamed at them not to leave her.
Looking at each other, not sure what to do, the nurse finally yelled at them both. "Alpha's, I mean no disrespect, but if you both do not get down on that ground with your mate and help her through this shift, she may not make it at all. She is still weak from her attack, and from the power of that aura, she has a very powerful and special wolf. She needs you both now." Without hesitation, Loki was on the ground and Liam followed after.
Liam laid my sister's head on his lap while stroking her hair and Loki rubbed her back. Both whispered words of encouragement to her. She let out another blood curdling scream and her legs and arms began to elongate, followed by her snout and fangs. As she finished fully shifting into her gorgeous wolf, a bright light shone around her. When the light dimmed, there stood my sister in wolf form. She was remarkable. She was large for a she-wolf, and had fur white as snow. All except for her ears, one was lavender and one was pastel pink. Just like her hair. Everyone always thought she dyed her hair to look like that, but she didn't. She was born with it that way.
She went to take a step forward and yelped, her leg and arm still weren't healed and made it hard for her to walk. Her mates walked up to her and snuggled their noses into her fur. She gave a low purr and licked them both in the face. Everyone started to laugh at how adorable they were being with her and then she just slobbers all over their faces.
Rebecca and I walked up to her and she whimpered a bit. Almost as if she was trying to tell me something. Rebecca asked her if she wanted to shift back and her wolf nodded her head. The nurse that had brought us out here handed Liam a blanket to wrap her in. I turned my back so she could shift and I heard Liam and Loki talk her through the shifting process to get back to her human form. The two of us were very lucky to be mated with the Young family. Before she could even talk to us about her wolf, one of the worst sounds in the world filled our ears.
"I knew it! I knew that stupid bitch wasn't dead!" Turning to see Lisa standing there, we knew that shit was about to hit the fan!
