Chapter 19 - Chasing My Rejected Luna

  EZRA'S P.O.V

"Please take a seat, Alpha Kirk. We have some very important business to discuss." I said as he entered, closing the door behind him. He looked around the room, his eyes landing on Tegan for longer than I liked before they rested on his daughter.

"What is this about?" He asked as he took a seat next to Lydia.

"Daddy, I swear it wasn't my fault! She started it!" Lydia screamed out like a spoiled brat.

"What was whose fault? What is going on here?"

"It seems that we have a situation. I could have handled this without you, but out of respect I asked you to be present." I said confidently.

"What is the situation?" He asked as his eyes roamed back over to where Imagen and Tegan sat.

"As I stated before, there was a situation that happened. Lydia took it upon herself to go against the very rules she swore not to break by attacking another member."

"It was self-defense!" Lydia screamed out, Imagen scuffing in response.

"Who do you think you are girl? Laughing at my daughter like you are worthy of even breathing the same air as her. You are a servant, a mere nobody!" Alpha Kirk raged at Imagen.

"You will not come here disrespecting my members. She was a witness to today's altercation. One that your daughter started so tread lightly on how you speak to my pack. I don't deal with disrespect lightly nor do I take attacking the future queen lightly."

"This peasant, the next queen? Have the standards lowered?" He asked with a laugh, making me growl at his outright disrespect.

"She is not the next queen, but even if she were, that is none of your concern. You will not come here disrespecting my members. There will not be another warning. Don't want to cross a line you cannot come back from. And yes, that was a threat." I said in a low threatening tone, making him shut up immediately.

"Imagen is the next queens handmade. She was there when it all went down." Uriah said as he took a seat next to me.

"So was Jess. Why isn't she here!?"

"I already spoke with Jess; she gave me a lovely insight into what happened indeed." I said, making her eyes bulge.

"Then you must know I didn't do it!"

"What I know is that you purposely went over to try and humiliate the future queen."

"I didn't even know she was the next queen."

"Lydia, we won't even dive into what lies you just spat out. As far as I am aware, you were informed before you disrespected her, then you attacked her, knowing the truth."

  "She pushed me!"

"Don't say another word, Lydia!" Her father demanded.

"Come on Lydia, you attacked her in your wolf form when she didn't shift. She was vulnerable and you were still going in for a kill shot. Why?"

"Don't answer that." Her dad said in a low tone. But I wasn't giving up.

"You were trying to make her jealous beforehand, right? But it didn't work. Did it make you mad that she won, and you lost? Did it make you mad that she had me in the end that you would go as far as attacking her? An innocent woman who did nothing to you."

"INNOCENT! SHE TOOK EVERYTHING FROM ME!"

"You think she had a choice? You think her signature is on the contract!? You attacked her because you wanted the position my mother offered her, you did it out of spite and out of jealousy!"

"I DESERVE TO BE THE QUEEN!"

"Lydia, shut your mouth!" Kirk kept trying to demand.

"No daddy! I should be Queen, not some stupid girl who cannot even hear! She is not worthy, I AM!"

"So, you attacked her unwarrantedly thinking it would give you the title?"

"I barely even laid a paw on her. A little black eye. It is not my fault she wasn't willing to defend her title."

"She didn't need to, her title was sealed, we talked about that. She is the next queen, there are no ifs ands or buts. So, what, you decided to attack her and to try and kill her? Did you think that if you killed her my mother would accept you?"

"I am perfect for the position. One little flaw didn't make me unworthy. Yet she gets the title handed to her and she can't even hear you speak the damn terms!"

"She may not be able to hear the terms, but she has enough heart to not attack innocent people to try and climb a ladder."

I could see her getting angrier with every passing moment of me pushing her. I wanted the full truth. She wasn't one to back down, but if I pushed hard enough, she would admit it all.

"She is kind, courageous, gentle, her heart is pure, and she cares deeply. Those are characteristics a queen should have. It isn't all about who you can manipulate and control. Being a queen, you must have patience and have a tender heart, but also know when to be hard on those around you to better your kingdom. You do not possess all of the characteristics a queen should possess."

  "I do to!"

"No, I've watched you. You're mean to anyone whose status is below you. You do not have a caring heart, nor do you have the ability to connect to people."

"But we shared our first time together. It was-"

"A mistake that should never have happened. I cannot take back sleeping with you. But the thing is, Tegan possesses many qualities of a queen, you, however, do not."

"I deserve the title! I worked hard for it. I did everything she said. I gave you the drink. I got you to bed. She didn't tell me that in doing so I would lose my chance. I thought it was a way of securing my position. The witch said I would be the queen, all I had to do was sleep with you."

"What did you just say?" I asked, confused.

"I didn't say… Daddy I.." She said, looking from me back to her father.

"God dammit Lydia! You always seem to fuck everything up! All you had to do was secure the damn position and keep your damn mouth shut! But you go and attack his future bride. I told your ass I would handle her! I told you I would take care of it all! But you just couldn't listen, could you!?"

When I looked over at Uriah, his face mirrored my own.

I knew what I did was wrong but everything about it felt so right. I felt a deep need to have her in every way. I truly thought sleeping together was okay and would not be known since it was only me. Were all those feelings because of a potion? Was our entire relationship a lie? Did I ever love her? I thought I did, but then I met Tegan and then those feelings vanished. Did Tegan break a spell I didn't even know was on me?
