Chapter 12 - Speak To Me

(Gabriella)

"Time to wake up Bunny, we don't want to miss breakfast." I heard my dad's voice call out before he ripped open the curtains, causing me to groan.

"Well, I guess you can sleep in..let me just call Jamie and cancel." He muttered teasingly, making my eyes snap open before I shot out of bed in a hurry.

"Really?!" I signed, watching as my dad nodded and smiled brightly before walking over to the small kitchenette.

"Yep..the guy wouldn't stop calling this morning, saying he wanted to talk to me about something over breakfast." He grumbled and the biggest grin ever filled my face.

So it wasn't a dream.

I quickly ran to the bathroom before slamming the door and starting the shower, the sound of my dad's laughter echoed from the other room as I hurried to get ready.

I didn't expect Jamie to ask my dad about moving in with him so quickly..I thought it would take a few days at least.

I hurriedly stripped off my clothes and jumped into the still cold shower before scrubbing myself clean. Afterward, I wrapped a huge bath towel around me before tying my hair up and walked into the other room.

I could hear my dad speaking on the phone as I made my way to my suitcase and quickly rifled through it, looking for something cute.

I settled on a pair of light-wash jeans with a blue and white horizontal striped top to go with it.

After getting dressed and brushing out my long hair, I was more than ready.

I quickly ran over to the bed, patting Butterscotch on the head before making it nice and neat for when we returned.

After I was all done, I walked into the other room and sat on the small sofa while waiting for my dad to finish his call.

"Okay, yes, we will be there at 11 for the physical. No...that shouldn't be a problem." He stated while darting his eyes towards me.

Was he talking about me?

After my dad said his goodbyes and hung up, he walked over to me and extended his hand out.

"Ready Bunny?" He asked, making me nod happily before jumping to my feet.

Daddy was wearing a cream-colored sweater with dark brown pants that made him look very handsome.

"Come on, I bet you're hungry." Daddy stated before taking my hand and pulling me along.

After we got to the lobby, there was a car waiting for us outside. Daddy always had the same driver for years, he even traveled abroad with him. His name was Ivan and he was a big guy with huge muscles and a shiny bald head. I always wondered how he could even fit in the car with how big he looked.

"Mr. Kensington, Miss Kensington, Good morning." He greeted us before giving me one of his rare smiles.

I liked Ivan a lot, he was always nice to me whenever I would see him.

"Good morning." I signed smoothly and slid into the back seat that he had opened up for me.

"We will be going to The Garden Ivan." My dad instructed and I was more than happy to go downtown..for living in New York, I didn't get to see the city as often as you would think considering our house is across the Hudson River.

So driving through Manhattan last night and seeing all the beautiful lights was incredible.

We hopped into the car and Ivan was off. He had to be the best driver I had ever seen, truthfully..I don't know how he can weave in and out of traffic so flawlessly and he never seemed stressed or impatient whatsoever.

"Bunny, would you like to go to a few shops after breakfast? I just have to stop by the office first and then we have your appointment with the physician." My dad explained, making me look towards him as I felt a little confused about the whole check up thing.

"Daddy, why do I have to see the doctor?" I signed slowly as he looked away and shifted in his seat uncomfortably.

I know Mr. Sinclair seemed adamant about me being able to have children, but was it really that important? He just couldn't let whatever happens happen?

"Well, you see sweetheart..Mr. Sinclair is very serious about his future. He wants to be sure that you could provide Jamie with a...well..an heir.." My dad explained awkwardly as I just blinked my eyes at him.

"If I can't, then what?" I signed out the words nervously while studying Daddy's expression carefully. That's when I saw a hint of sadness fill him.

"Well, sweetheart, then it wouldn't work out..Jamie..well he would...he would have to.." He began to tell me, making me turn my head to stare out the window as hurt started to rise up.

Why was I so hurt by this? I guess it's reasonable..considering our situation isn't normal the expectations wouldn't be either..but just knowing if it ended up being the case..that I couldn't have children, then Jamie would be done with me..it left a bitter taste in my mouth.

"Bunny, don't be upset..that's how this contract has always been, and I'm sure everything will work out perfectly okay?" My dad reached over and squeezed my hand, making me nod my head as I bit my lip anxiously.

After talking with Jamie last night, and seeing how sweet and kind he is..I had honestly forgotten about the contract in all of this..I had almost convinced myself that he chose me, because he fell for me the moment he saw me, just like I did for him.

But that would be foolish of me, right?

I breathed in a deep calming breath, my gaze drifting out the window before absorbing all the tall buildings and bustling people around us.

" Here we are sweetheart, let Ivan open the door for you okay?" My dad stated as Ivan hopped out of the car before coming to my door and opening it up.

I stepped out, feeling a gust of wind blow past me as my eyes drifted toward the building before us and that's when I saw him.

Jamie Sinclair...he was wearing a long black jacket with a white dress shirt and black slacks beneath. His tall lean figure bounded towards us as he pulled his hands from his pockets.

"Gabriella, aren't you cold?" He suddenly rushed out before stepping in front of me and pulling off his jacket.

"Come here." He breathed, his deep voice leaving me frozen in place as he placed his jacket over my shoulders and wrapped it around me.

"You let her leave the hotel without a jacket?" Jamie suddenly turned his intimidating stare to my dad as he became just as speechless as me..which was pretty rare for my dad.

"Well..I didn't realize how cold it would be." My dad stated awkwardly as Jamie pulled me into his side.

"Let's go in, you don't want to catch a cold." He declared and I swear it was only like 65 degrees which wasn't bad..but then again..I couldn't help but dip my head down and smell his jacket, inhaling his masculine scent as I tried to fight the butterflies that threatened to consume me.

"I already have a table waiting for us." He whispered, the feel of his large palm burning into my lower back made my feet feel light as I swear I had to be walking on air.

We were led to our table as Jamie pulled out my chair and helped me sit down before taking the seat next to me.

My dad just watched in utter shock as he seemed to be getting annoyed now.

"Yes, well, thank you for meeting with us..Gabby has never been here before and I'm sure she will love the.." My dad began, making polite conversation as Jamie suddenly interrupted him.

"I'm sorry..not to be rude..but I am going to get straight to the point..I think it's best if Gabriella moves in with me." Jamie blurted, causing my eyes to widen as my dad began choking.

I rushed over and grabbed some water before giving it to him, making my dad shoo me away as he reassured me he was fine.

"Wait..you..you what?!" He finally blurted, causing me to grimace as I could see the disapproval setting in his face.

Yeah..this wasn't going to go well.
