(Jamie)
I glanced down at my phone, seeing the picture of Gabriella staring back at me as I couldn't help but smile. It was the picture she had sent me last night..I found myself staring at it every chance I could get.
Despite my happy mood from meeting up with her earlier..all of that had gone down the fucking drain after speaking with my father.
First off..I hated the way he was treating Gabriella like she was some breeding machine and not caring how she would feel about any of this.
And second..the article printed this morning was written by a journalist my dad knew very well and I know for a fact they would've asked my father if it should've been printed.
I called them after lunch and made them take the article down, saying I would personally address it tomorrow morning. I was going to not only post it to my social media but publicly announce it with Gabriella by my side.
I know this might be a lot for her..so tonight when she comes to the house I will sit her down and explain everything.
It didn't seem like she saw the article, which I wanted to speak to her about but it just wasn't the right time.
Then hearing about Gabriella's results..I was over the fucking moon..even though it didn't really matter to me but I couldn't help but feel excited about the possibilities.
I swear it's like I have known Gabriella all of my life..that's how comfortable I feel with her.
"Sir, we are here." Ray informed me as I pulled my eyes from Gabby's picture and looked up at the tall building with the words Sinclair Industries at the top.
"I shouldn't be long." I stated, knowing what I had to say wouldn't take much time.
I stepped out of the car before nodding toward the security guard at the front as he opened the door wide for me.
"Mr. Sinclair." He greeted me with respect as I stepped through the wide glass doors.
Everyone I passed looked at me with awe as I made my way straight to the elevator.
After sliding past the doors, they were about to close when a well-manicured hand slipped through...great..this was all I needed..
"Mr. Sinclair, I didn't expect to see you in today." Candice, one of my father's secretaries chirped.
She had long brown hair and caramel-colored skin with green eyes.
I nodded my head tightly, not saying a word before stepping to the side, trying not to choke on the overwhelming scent of her perfume.
It was hard not to scowl as I watched her flick her hair back and thrust her chest forward..she was wearing a light blue blouse unbuttoned at the top and short black skirt..all of my dad's secretaries looked like this..
"I like to be surrounded by beautiful things..it makes my job more enjoyable." He once said, making me roll my eyes.
Don't get me wrong..he hires all types of people and doesn't discriminate..but he hand-picks his secretaries very carefully..and usually he has a type..
I'm just glad there hasn't been a fucking scandal yet..
That is one thing my dad has never done to be fair..he has never slept with an employee..But..he HAS let a few women go and then dated them for a week or two..never on the job though..
That is something I can actually agree with..I have never mingled with my employees either..
Being 26, I have been with a few women, but nothing long-term.
I haven't had that desire to settle down and date seriously because I knew one day my dad would be choosing my future wife.
Well, he would have a hand in it..so I never made it a point to actively search. Besides..I never felt anything more than attraction for those women..not like what I feel with Gabriella..that..that was something new.
I felt more with Gabriella those first ten seconds of meeting her than I have with anyone in my 26 years of life.
"Congratulations by the way." Candice suddenly blurted, pulling me out of my thoughts as I almost forgot she was even there.
"For what?" I asked, feeling like I didn't want to do this shit.
"For your engagement to Miss Kensington of course. Cecelia came by earlier looking for you." Candice explained and now I was really pissed off.
"Cecelia Kensington is not my Fiancee, and I would appreciate it if you didn't entertain her delusions any further after this." I snapped, making Candice blink her eyes rapidly before stepping back as the elevator opened and I walked off.
My reputation around the office wasn't exactly warm and inviting..in fact, I have heard a rumor going around that they call me Mr. Frost behind my back.
"Mr. Sinclair, your father is currently in a meeting." Lorinda rushed out before standing up abruptly.
"I will wait in his office then." I stated sharply and walked straight through his door.
I shut the door behind me before sitting down on the leather couch in the middle and waited patiently. I didn't care if I had to wait for hours..this would be addressed today.
Forty minutes passed and I finally heard Lorinda's muffled voice speaking as my father came in.
"Jamie, what do you need? I have ten minutes." My dad quipped...his tone one I was used to.
So I decided to get straight to the point.
"I wanted to talk to you about Gabriella, I would appreciate it if you wouldn't speak about her like she was some sort of breeding machine." I said cooly, making my dad stop in his tracks before looking up at me curiously.
"And about Cecelia...I know you approved the article." I added before standing and stepping towards the door.
"I don't know what game you are playing, but I would prefer you stop. I have already made my decision and you approved it." I reminded him as my dad gave me one of his rare smiles before walking to his desk and sitting down.
"You really like this girl don't you." My dad stated bluntly, catching me off guard as I slipped my hands into my pockets.
"Yes, I do. And I don't want anything to upset her. So please don't encourage Cecelia's behavior."
"I just wanted to see something..and besides..I admire the girl's tenacity. But okay, if you really want to go all in with the youngest Kensington girl, then by all means I won't stop you..but Jamie.. remember this is still a business deal. I expect you to uphold the contract." My dad reminded me, making me turn my head and glance towards the door.
"She isn't like other girls." I don't know why I said this..maybe to stick up for her or to remind myself that Gabriella wouldn't care about money or things like that. That she seems to be in this just for me..like I feel for her..
"Fine, bring her for dinner tomorrow night. Let me meet my future daughter in law properly." My dad blurted, making my eyes widen as I did not expect that...not one bit.
"Um, yeah okay. Let..let me just make sure she is free." I tried not to sputter as I cleared my throat and nodded once before turning to leave.
My dad hasn't even asked me to have dinner with him in years..well, besides for work events.
"Oh, and I need those files I asked for earlier by morning." He added as I was just about to open the door..sounding a lot more like my dad.
I acknowledged I heard him and headed for the elevator, ready to go home and make sure everything was ready for Gabriella.
That's when I pulled out my phone and saw a text from her.
From Gabriella: I just wanted to let you know that I'm really excited to move in with you..and I miss you..okay..bye.
I couldn't stop the laugh that burst out of my mouth as a few people looked at me in shock, prompting me to clear my throat and swiftly put my phone away.
I'm excited too and I can't fucking wait.
