Chapter 11 - Rejecting A Wolf

It was exactly at the top of the hour, the meeting room was filled with elders and senior members of the pack. The room was packed, with only the elders, alpha and luna being seated.

Kent sat down at the head of the table, his hands stretched out and folded on the table, The room was in silence as they waited for him to speak. It was something else for Kent to say what he was out loud.

"It was brought to my attention that an incident which involves my son has occurred." Kent began, his face almost impassive. If one watched him closely, they could see his lip twitching slightly. "The incident also involves three others. Jace Maddox, Aurora Dale and Maya Francis."

Murmurs began, they quietly conversed with each other when they heard this. They understood earlier two wolves went on a rampage. But to think it would lead to a meeting. It could only mean something else was wrong.

"Maya and my foolish son had done the unthinkable." Kent continued, and the murmuring stopped immediately. "Maya Francis as of right now is carrying the pup of my son Alaric Lynx."

Five seconds of silence, it took them five seconds to figure out the ins and out of everything. Outrage quickly spread among everyone. They were no longer murmuring. The unthinkable has truly occurred.

Kent waited for the voices to calm down before speaking once again, he explained in fewer details and the purpose of them being gathered here. He explained everything with a few exceptions.

"Therefore, our only option is rejection." Kent concluded, and the people in the room went into an uproar.

"Why is this the only option? Rejection, kill the fucking bastard. Who gives a fuck if Alaric goes on a rampage. With his mate at his side, he'll eventually calm down." An elder argued.

"I wish it were that simple," Richard sighed, "I've never told anybody, not even Kenneth, but the thing is. The Lynx family's alpha line is cursed. Not killing the child is the right move, as it is the male heir. The very fact that Maya was able to get pregnant should be a miracle by itself."

"Dad? What are you saying right now. We are cursed? You never said anything!"

"Didn't you ever find it strange, every alpha of this pack only had one or two children. One boy, one girl. There was never an instance where there was a second son because we were cursed by a rather powerful and angry witch." Richard explained, "I spend countless years trying to find a way to break it, any sort of way."

"The council will not allow it after reading up our files, as heritage and rules is all they are for." Kent laughed, a self depreciating type of laugh. Kent looked as if he had aged a few years in those few seconds.

"Why just don't we get a witch to undo it?" Nailiah suggested before adding. "Rejection is extreme, maybe we can work around it. Maybe we can keep them apart, and then when the baby's born we can figure out something else."

"That can't be undone. Didn't I just say I spent years trying to? The witch who cursed our blood died by our ancestor's hands. It was her dying grievance, no witch alive would help, that's their law. Even if we explain this, they won't help." Richard told her, shaking his head with a sigh.

"A wolf is territorial, when my daughter learns that what was meant to be her child Ended up being Maya's child in a fate of twisted luck, how do you think she'll react." Anderson spoke up, refuting Nailiah naive claims. "Rejection is the only answer we have."

"Then what? Hmm, how are we going to explain this, and explain the way they'll act after rejection if they survive." Nailiah furrowed her brows and asked.

"The only choice we have to cover up this mess is rejection. Elders, senior members of the pack. We only have this option." Anderson glanced at Nailiah and said.

"The other options are no options we can take, considering everything we just learned." Kent said while tiredly tapping the table in front of him.

"The risks of rejection are high. The children may not survive it, are we really about to sacrifice those kids?" Nailah argued, hoping to end the talk of rejection, as she could see everyone was already starting to lean towards the idea.

"It's not high if a witch officiates it." Anderson chimed in, he understood why Nailiah wanted to stop it, he had seen what rejection can do to a werewolf. The hurdle Jace and Aurora had to jump through in order to survive was theirs alone, but he'll do everything in his power to save them.

"How would you know that?" Nailiah aggressively questioned

"Because my sister survived rejection." Anderson said as he looked Nailiah straight in her eyes, "The hardest part isn't actually being rejected. It's learning how to survive after it."

"Where are we going to find a witch? Witches aren't exactly werewolves biggest fans." Kent asked

"I know a witch," Anderson told them, "She's an old friend. I already contacted her. She is nearly here."

"Is she trustworthy?" Nailiah questioned and Anderson was out of patience with this woman as she was getting on his last nerve.

"Do we have a choice of whose trustworthy or not?" Anderson snarled. " I get you want to help as is your right, but this is already decided whether you like it or not, Aurora is my daughter. I am in more pain, knowing that this is the only option left. If it doesn't work I lose my pup so back the fuck off!"

Silence, everyone was silent. After all, there were no lies in his statement. If everything went south, he'd lose his daughter. He was a person who actually witnessed a rejection, so his fears for his daughter should be more than anyone else.

"All in favor of this rejection, raise your hands." Kent said, almost everyone's hands went up, and a decision has been made. "Good, now here come the tricky part. Let us fabricate a story."
