Chapter 10 - Rejecting A Wolf

"Have you lost your fucking mind?" Nailiah shouted after hearing Anderson's words. "Rejection! Not only do you refuse to have the council know of what happening here, you want to commit taboo!"

"How could you ever understand?" Anderson shouted back, "You never came face to face with those fanatics, only hearing stories from others. You have no fucking idea the lengths they would go to keep nature in check."

"You've truly gone mad," Nailiah laughed humorlessly as she placed her hands on her hips. " As if your words can convince me otherwise, It's taboo for a reason! A good reason, too."

"She's right," Jason said, shaking his head. "Rejection is rejection of nature. The wolves will die, the children will die."

"There's no grantee with this," Nailiah coldly stated. "We will contact the council. To think..."

"Shut up," Kent coldly interrupted Nailiah. His Voice mixed in an alpha command. "Who rejects who?" Kent turned his attention to Anderson and asked.

"You can't possibly be thinking of going ahead of with this plan?" Hailey asked in shock. Kent didn't reply, he only cast her with a cold look that said 'shut up!'

"Aurora and Jace have to be the ones rejected." Anderson squeezed through his teeth. Hailey and Jason immediately began to protest.

"Are you out of your mind? No!' Jason sneered.

"My son, ha over my dead body." Hailey gritted her teeth and glared at Anderson, hating she could rip his mouth to shreds.

"Shut the fuck up!" Kent roared, his aura explode and everyone except Anderson and Renee bare the necks towards him. "I've had enough of this, doubting him is okay, but doubting me? Your Alpha!"

"How can we not doubt, hmm?" although Jason submitted to Kent, he still questioned. "Your good son caused this. The survival rate of rejected wolves is zero. They die alone with their wolves."

"Ignorance is bliss." Anderson spoke up at this time. "While most wolves die, if a wolf is strong enough, they can survive rejection. If monitored for the first few weeks, they can survive, as the wolf's death is slow and taxing to the human part. Most wolves who died from rejection killed themselves from not being able to handle the pain."

"And why would know you know that?" Nailiah asked. Anderson glanced at her and hugged his still sobbing mate quietly. He didn't answer, it was just too painful to say.

"He knows because his sister was rejected." Kent answered before asking, "Am I right?"

Anderson looked down before forcing himself to nod. Danielle Dale, that happy smiling girl, thinking about the pain she went through and the numerous times he stopped her from ending her life while struggling from rejection.

He remembered it like it happened yesterday. Not a day goes by in which he doesn't remember his sister's pain. Yet that pain wasn't even the worst of the rejection. Thinking about what the council did, Anderson trembled. This hatred will never be erased.

Kent only knew the basics, after all, the old alpha would only skim the details over with Kent. Danielle's rejection and the council was involved with her death were the only things he learned from his father.

"The council was also the cause of her death. That's why you refused to have them involve, even going as far as suggesting this. Knowing that there was a chance your daughter would die." Kent continued after a long pause.

"Whatever you think you know," Anderson looked Kent straight in his eye and said. "You know nothing, Kenneth. About her and about her death."

"Then why don't you explain to us what happened, maybe the others would come to accept your crazy plan." Kent didn't take his aggressiveness to heart. He knew fully well that was a sore spot for Anderson.

"I rather call a meeting with the elders. I know they'll take my side." Anderson refused, Kent, although disappointed, he understood why Anderson would rather not talk about it.

"It'll take about an hour for everyone to gather. We'll hold this meeting in the pack house's conference room." Kent said, "Until then you can go to your children."

Bryson was probably the only one completely happy to exit the office. He practically skipped outside as soon as Kent said that. Finally free from that suffocating room.

Jason escorted his mate out the room, planning on going to Jace side immediately. Anderson, although he felt devoured of strength, gathered his mate in his arms and left. After that, George and Faith left to go to the adjoining room, closing the door behind them. Leaving Kent, Lily and Nailiah alone.

"If you're planning on doing this, better not call me aunt anymore." Nailiah coldly said to Kent after everyone left. "Doing taboo, you'll get this entire pack attacked."

"Then address me as alpha from now on," Kent sneered. "Let's see after the elder's gather if you'll have the same attitude. My father shelter you too much."

Kent stretched his hand towards Lily, who hesitated a bit, took it. Kent didn't mind and pulled her out of the office. He didn't care if he had to fall out with Nailiah, what was on his mind was far greater than

If he had another choice, he would let Alaric be rejected, however he did not. This Lynx family of his was unfortunate when it came to male heirs. Only having one male heir for centuries.

Even if he had a daughter, he would have raised her to be alpha and make her the first female alpha in history. But alas he only had Alaric, regardless of this mistake he had to protect him.

Pulling Lily along, he walked to the pack house and entered the conference room on the first floor where his mother and father, former alpha and luna of the Lunar pack were seated.

They were here so quickly because they happened to be in a nearby area. Only taking a few minutes to arrive.

"To call a meeting with the elders and senior members of the pack, Tell me son what's wrong?" Richard questioned, although retired, he never lost his bearing as an alpha of a pack.

"This time, father, I think you will have to explain clearly what happened to Anderson Dale back then. The problem this time if not handled right will get the council involved." Kent decided to say this first, to make his father understand the severity of the problem.

And the old man did, his face harden and eyes blazed. "Explain, boy, what happened."

"So it's like this." Kent began to explain, studying his parent's face as he told the story, leaving nothing out and add no false information. By the time he was done, his parent's face was twisted into deep frowns. After a long deafen silence, Richard and Kamila sighed.

"Kenneth, it's as you thought. The only people who would disagree with this rejection plan of Anderson are the ones who don't know the horror of what happened to him and his family." Kamila said, rubbing her forehead.

"I agree with your mother, for those who don't know would think the council is law. But even as we speak, there are wolves suffering from their heretic beliefs. But there are also wolves who worship their heretics" Richard explained.

"What people don't know is that, the werewolf race is split, those who want to overthrow the council and those who just follow what they want. " Kamila began to explain. "What you probably didn't know was Anderson's parents and elder brother along with several members of his old pack died after that girl died. To save the rest of the pack, he had to quell his rage and thoughts of revenge."

"But that was easier said than done. We don't know what happened in between, but he gave up his title and brought his pregnant mate here. As an old friend of his father, we took him in." Richard finished his mate's words.

Kent digested this information quietly, although they didn't go into specifics. He and Lily could easily guess the unsaid words.

Anderson's parents, elder brother and members of the pack went up against the council and the result was death. Anderson's grudge against the council could be said to be deep.

And for his parents to agree with Anderson's rejection plan without hesitation meant that Anderson's fears were valid.

"For an alpha wolf as strong as him to give up the alpha title. Was it that bad?" Lily suddenly asked. The old couple looked at her and sighed.

"Strong, that may be so. But what can one strong man do against many others? To cast his pride aside and live quietly in this pack was all for the sake of his old pack and family there. To save the pack from extinction." Richard explained, "Not only from the council, but from their followers too. Don't underestimate the might of the council."

The room fell completely silent, they stayed this way until someone knocked on the door before opening the door. It was the old Maddox couple, the elders of the beta family, followed by the older delta couple. One by one, the elders of the pack gathered.

It was only then they realized the hour deadline was approaching.
