Chapter 9 - Rejecting A Wolf

As if he heard the nonsensical thoughts Bryson was having, Kent gaze washed over Bryson sternly. Bryson could only stand straighter and look ahead.

'What kind of god awful senses is that.' Bryson grumbled to himself. And his wolf snorted in annoyance.

'Mind link is open, you dumb human. You didn't think it, you mind linked it to him.' his wolf Max informed him in discontent.

'Oh shit.' Bryson realized his mistake, 'I apologize sir.' Kent rolled his eyes and looked towards the couple in front of him.

"Then what are we going to do? If we can't kill the baby, what can we do? Do we inform the council of this matter, they'll know what to do." George pondered before saying, "This matter is not like we can keep it under ugh...."

George choked, Anderson had his hand wrapped around his throat and lifted him off the ground single-handedly before slamming him against the wall.

"Council? What fucking council?" Anderson growled, his canine teeth enlarged in his mouth. His bottled up rage was spilling over.

His aura exploded, almost making everyone bare their necks to him. Kent snarled immediately, he wolf almost submitted for a second and that infuriated him to the max.

"Kent stood and wanted to walk towards Anderson and possibly punch him in the face, but Renee spread her hands and stopped him.

"Don't move," Renee whispered, "He snapped, so don't move!"

Kent pursed his lips, he was unwilling but looking at George who was suffocating to death by Anderson's choke hold and Faith baring her neck to Anderson as she was frozen in fear, he decided to let Renee do what she could.

"Andy, let him go." Renee placed her hand on Anderson's back and let her aura go. A gentle wave of affection seemed to suppress his alpha aura. It was the aura of a woman who was just as powerful as her mate.

It made Lily, who was sitting, feel inadequate as a luna. She was an alpha born female wolf. Both her parents' alpha wolves, but she was certain her aura can never be this strong.

Of their circumstances, Lily somewhat understood and never really bothered to think about or even ask more about it. They we relatively a low-key family. Anderson never got involved in pack politics, or even tried to become a pack warrior.

The same would go for his son and his mate. The Dales rather to dabble in business more. Owning several businesses within the pack. They were well off and seemed to be content with their lives, subservient to Kent's alpha rule.

Even Kent was surprised by Renee's aura, he knew the Dales were much more than they seem. He knew more about them than his mate. And now that he had calm down from his rage, he finally remembered why this family came to this pack in the first place.

"The council," Kent murmured, "No wonder."

Renee's aura was like cold water dousing his burning fire before it got out of hand. Bit by bit, Anderson relaxed his grip and eventually dropped George and reigned in his aura once more.

"My apologies, I let my emotions take over me." Anderson explained after taking a deep breath. "We must absolutely never let those bastards know what the mess is like here."

"Why would you say that, sir?" Bryson blurted out. That pressure earlier made him slightly bare his neck to Anderson.

"Many years ago, a situation happened." Renee grabbed her mate's shaking hands and answered instead. "The council got involved, and it ruined our lives at that point. We couldn't go about our lives pretending it didn't happen."

"So we renounced everything, I gave up my title for a normal life." Anderson finished off before adding. "The council's methods are extreme, they don't care of anything but sticking to the laws of nature."

"Take it from us," Renee spoke after Anderson finished his sentence. "The moment they get involved. Our children might all die, or we ourselves would die to protect them."

"I don't have anything against you, but the council is law. How are we supposed to keep this from the pack? And if the secret leaks within the pack, how are supposed to keep the pack members from spreading the news out the pack?" Nailiah asked, Kent agreed wholeheartedly with this question.

"We will call a meeting with the elders and senior members of the pack." Anderson said while giving Nailiah a cold side eye before continuing. His gaze landed on everyone as he spoke his next words. "We can't hide this secret from everyone. However, if it becomes something controlled. With us controlling how the information is manipulated, we can shape a favorable story."

"That is actually an excellent idea." Jason who was quiet this whole time spoke up. "We can make up something about the parking lot bawl. If we can't kill that bastard, then we can make it seem Maya and Alaric are actually mates with a baby on the way. Which is much acceptable."

"How are we going to do that? Are you forgetting that your children are their mates? This spells a disaster waiting to happen." Lily disagreed immediately with Jason and Anderson's plan. Her concerns were valid. There was no way that it could work.

"Then what are going to do? " George croaked out, his throat still throbbing from Anderson's choking.

"What if we send Aurora into another pack. Out of sight, out of mind?" Renee suggested.

"That won't work, we, wolves, are territorial animals. They'll come back on their own." Hailey shut that down. The office became noisy as everyone began debating on what to do.

They had to find a way to make it work, otherwise Anderson's idea can't come into fruition. After ten minutes, they still didn't have a solution. Now everyone was either seated or pacing.

"This is getting nowhere," Nailaih sighed. "We need to consider the fact that this plan might not be doable."

Everyone sunk into silence after hearing that. Despair began to grip them. Was their only choice the council? Thinking about Anderson's reaction to that merely being suggested made them second guess that idea.

"What if it is?" Anderson said, breaking the silence. Everyone looked at him waiting to continue. Renee was the only one who didn't move to look at him. She knew what he was going to suggest.

"Are you out of your fucking mind?" Renee screamed, shocking everyone as she attack Anderson. "I won't allow you to!"

"You think I want to? Renee, please. I really don't want to, but what other choice we have? The council?" Anderson allowed her to hit him as she liked. Closing his eyes to hide the tears threaten to fall.

"You can't!" Renee sobbed, "You can't Andy. That's our baby!"

Renee's reaction confused everyone, Did Anderson want to kill the kids? That thought went through the minds of everyone. Jason already to put up his guard after that thought popped into his head.

Renee dropped to her knees, Anderson followed her and wrapped his arms around her. She didn't struggle or beat on him anymore. She only cried.

It was only then they noticed Anderson was crying. It only reaffirmed the idea that Anderson wanted to kill them.

"What ever it is," Jason spoke up, "I say no to it. The council can't be that bad."

"But it is that bad," Kent said, "You only say that because you have no idea the things these two went through."

"Well, explain to me, then." Jason snapped. "I'm not killing my son."

"It's not like that!" Anderson shouted, tears running down his cheeks, "I rather die that kill my daughter! But! But! But there is no other choice!"

"Then what is it like then?" Jason sneered. Anderson tried to calm down his emotions to answer. But between his mate's shaking body and tight grip she had on his body, he choked up.

They could see how much of a struggle he was having to speak. To think he feared whatever the council would do to his daughter this much. Jason couldn't help but soften up.

It took him a while, but Anderson stopped crying. He blankly looked ahead as he muttered the words that sent everyone into the abyss.

"Have you ever heard about rejection?"
