Chapter 13 - Rejecting A Wolf

Lily pursed her lips, she stood up from her seat and moved to Kent's side. Kent coldly rose to his feet. It was obvious what Lily wanted to do, and he'll allow her to do it. However, it was the last time.

Lily rose her hand and slapped Kent hard on his right cheek, the force of the slap caused him to turn his face along with the slap.

"Lilian, I hope you can watch over him and baby him for the rest of his life. Because I won't." Kent looked down at his mate then at his son before storming out.

He slammed the door so hard it rattled against the frame. Lily bit her bottom lip as she plopped down on the seat next to her.

Everything was a mess, what she just did will not be undone. Knowing her mate quirks, what he said he meant. He was a man of his word.

"I'm sorry mom," Alaric apologized after a few seconds, "If it weren't for my fuck-up then none of this would be happening."

"No, we'll fix it son," Lily looked at her son and promised. " I'll fix it, I promise."

"You can't fix this, nobody can fix this." Alaric laughed mournfully, "I'm going to reject my mate, and I never even touched her hand."

Alaric absentmindedly stared at his left hand, Lily wanted to say more but looking at how he zoned out, she decided to leave him be.

Time passes so fast that it would be time for the rejection soon. She wanted to at least give him a little peace.

Anderson and Renee walked into the room where Aurora was with Aiden and Cherise. Before they even entered, they could hear Aurora's growls and snarls from the hallway,

"Are you deaf? Loosen the fucking restraints, Aiden!" Aurora snarled at Aiden as her parents walked in. She was fully awake now, and she wanted nothing but to rip Maya's throat out.

Renee wanted to go closer, but Anderson stopped her. "You're pregnant, are you forgetting that?

"Then what am I supposed to do then?" Renee frowned and said in frustration.

"How about you take Cherise and Aiden out, I don't want you to see she how bad it'll be." Anderson suggested, and Renee's face twisted in rage.

"Who the fuck said I'll leave her, Anderson!" Renee shouted. "I'll be right here, right next to my daughter, you can't make me leave."

"Renee, please don't make me do it. Don't force my hand." Anderson soften his voice as threatened her.

"You fucking bastard, you're threatening me? Me, the woman who has been by side since everything happened. I even bowed my fucking head to another alpha and luna for you." Renee snarled, her chest heaving up and down as rage clouded her vision.

"You want to stay, be my guest. But you will watch from a distance. What is about to happen is unnatural and can change her drastically. She will come out of this as another person." Anderson pursed his lips after he said that. Their conversation stopped Aurora's fussing and grabbed Aiden and Cherise's attention.

"Dad? What's going on?" Aiden asked as he made his way over to his parents with Cherise in tow.

Anderson gave Aurora a side glance, seeing she was back to struggling against the restraints, he decided not to explain anything to Aiden right now.

"I need you and Cherise to go home," Anderson sent them home after much debating. When they brought Aurora back he'll naturally explain everything to them, however right now he didn't feel like explaining why this decision was the best one for them.

"No, why would we leave?" Aiden frowned, a bad feeling washed over him. He knew his parents would never hurt Aurora intentionally, but his gut told him something was wrong. Especially seeing Aurora wake up so soon after being sedated.

If there's one thing Aiden was certain of it was his gut feelings, he had one this morning when he smelt Maya, and now it was apparent something was wrong.

"Are you questioning me, or are you insinuating something?" Anderson left out his aura and encompassed it around Aiden. Forcing Aiden to bear his neck to him. On regular days, Anderson would stop here, but today wasn't normal, he forced Aiden to his knees with his aura alone.

"I told you to go home, you'll do that and wait for us." Anderson ordered. Aiden's forehead was matted with cold sweat. He had no choice to accept the order, though he wanted to stay. He was in no way stronger than his old man.

"What about Aurora!" Aiden gritted out through the pressure his father was constantly pressing on him.

"Someone's coming to fix this, at the latest tomorrow she'll be home. Don't worry, your mother and I will be right here." Anderson vaguely explained, but how would Aiden know that?

"Okay, I'll go, so stop." Aiden forehead was almost touching the floor due to the pressure. Anderson restrained himself, but then his eyes locked with Aurora's eyes.

He quickly averted his eyes and ignored her. Seeing he was ignoring her, she began to struggle once again to get out of the restraints. Aiden was helped up by Cherise and the couple left in silence in the midst of Aurora's growls.

Renee really wanted to go closer to her, but Anderson's attention was always her to make sure she didn't. Renee chose to sit down, so did Anderson. He sat at the side of the bed and once again released his aura to suppress Aurora.

"Enough, I need to talk to you." Anderson snarled out and all resistances stopped. Aurora had no choice but to lay there strapped to the bed under the heavy pressure her brother just endured. "I'm sorry Aurora, and you to Ren. Daddy's so sorry that it has come to this."

"In under two hours, Alaric is going to walk through that door," Anderson paused, his next words needed to be said, yet they were so hard to. However, regardless of his feelings, he had to say it to her. "He's going to come through that door, and he's going to reject you."

"Reject me?" Aurora croaked out, "Reject me? What is that?" Anderson knew she was still running high on her anger, so she didn't really register what he said just yet.

He decided not to answer, he wanted them to figure it out by themselves. And when they did, he would take over from there. But after a few minutes pass, he sighed. She wasn't really in the state of mind to figure it out by herself, so he had to explain it to her.

"Rejecting is the act of rejecting your moon bound soul mate," Anderson begun to explain, "Rejecting the wolf as it was, rejecting the human as it was rejecting nature as it was. You'll no longer bound to Alaric, he will no longer be your mate."

Anderson closely watched Aurora's reaction, at first, her reaction was confusion. But when she realized what he was saying, she looked at him in utter disbelief.

"I don't understand," She whispered, "Is it because we tried to kill that bitch? We won't kill her, so he won't reject us, right?."

She tilted her head looking at her father for confirmation, in her eyes he could see her eyes turning. Her wolf was asking him. He didn't have the answer she wanted, he couldn't help but turn and look at Renee.

Renee stared back at him, and he could see his distressed expression in her eyes. Her expression naturally mirrored his. How could he sit here and tell her the reason?

To tell Aurora that her birthright was stolen from her with a lucky shot? Anderson turned back to face Aurora. He had to clasp his hands together to stop them from shaking.

It was the hardest thing he had to ever do, he thought that the things in the past were the hardest, but that was true. Giving up his alpha title wasn't this hard, burying his parents and brother wasn't this hard. Watching his sister die wasn't this hard.

His throat moved as he opened his mouth, the words were on the tip of his tongue, but he just couldn't say it.

"Dad?" Aurora called out. "What's wrong? You're scaring me. Please, Mom? I'm confused."

Renee also opened her mouth to speak but got choked up seeing Aurora like this. Her rage was extinguished and confusion took over. That was the power of rejection, just merely explaining it brought her to a somewhat clarified state.

"Alaric's family was cursed by a witch a long time ago. There is only one son born in each generation. Some were luckier than most and can have a son and daughter. But the number of children will never exceed two." Anderson found his bearings and began to explain.

From beginning to end, he explained it as good as he could in a slow, concise manner. Aurora silently listen, not once opening her mouth, and when Anderson was gone it took her a while to answer.

"Is there no other way, daddy?" Aurora asked quietly, Anderson explained everything clearly. Even explained to her that if they remained as they were right now, things could become worse

She would try to kill the baby and Maya no matter what. After all, Maya had her birthright growing inside her. A pup that was meant to be hers, a man that was to be hers, and a title that was to be hers

"There is no other way, if there was, I would never let you be rejected." Anderson replied. From where he was sitting, he could see her throat moving up and down as she choked back on her sobs. Her tears disappear to the sides of her face to his hair line.

"What's going to happen to me? To Ren?" Aurora asked shakily.

"You might die or you might survive. It all depends on the two of you." Anderson told her. "If you can survive rejections, I promise it will be better."

It was a lie, surviving rejection wasn't the worst of it, but he could tell her that. Because she would allow herself to die during the process, and he was selfish. He didn't want his daughter to die, so he lied. He looked straight at her and lied, and she believed him.

"You and mom will be right here with me?" Aurora asked, Anderson took back his aura a long time ago. The fact she was laying here, not fussing was because she was completely in control.

"Yes. We won't leave. We will hold your hand. I promise princess." Anderson stood up and leaned over her and caressed her head.
