Chapter 28 - Rejecting A Wolf

Yet here she was, with her hand in her father's as he cried for the pain he caused by his actions to protect her.

"You never failed me," Rory muttered lowly. " None of you failed me. Dad just know I won't ever blame you for the things you do to protect me, even if some of those things harm me. I know you did it to protect me."

Anderson stared at Aurora before he completely broke down sobbing. Aurora was stunned into silence, it wasn't her intention to make him cry more.

"Oh Goddess, I failed and miserably at it too." Anderson sobbed. Renee, Cherise, and Aidsn could no longer contain themselves.

They entered the room with tears in their eyes. Aurora was even more at a loss. This wasn't what she meant, but after thinking about it she understood what she did wrong.

'Fuck,' she cursed softly to herself in her mind. She could only try to comfort them. She was exhausted and hungry by the time she was finished.

Somehow amid her panic, she helps calmed her family down. Now they were around her talking animately.

It felt like things went back to how they used to be for a few seconds. But then Aurora remembered everything causing her mood to sink further.

"I'm hungry," Aurora announced, everyone looked at her with slight smiles. In their eyes, she could still see the pain and sadness they tried to hide.

"How about a BLT?" Renee suggested as she got ready to make Aurora something to eat.

"Hmm, sounds great mom!"Aurora smiled and answered.

" Okay I'll bring it up, but in the meantime let's give her some space yeah?" The first part was directed at Aurora while the second part was talking to the three others.

Aiden, Cherise, and Anderson understood. Anderson was reluctant to leave but he forced himself to.

Aurora didn't need anyone smothering her to death. He couldn't and shouldn't treat Aurora like she would break with the slightest touch. It wasn't helping, it was only damaging her.

With that Anderson stood up and bent his waist, he caressed Aurora's forehead softly before giving her a quick kiss on her forehead.

"Your mom will bring the food to you is that alright?" Aurora nodded her head in response to his inquiry.

Anderson and the others left for the first time in a long time. They closed her bedroom door. Aurora bunched up the blanket in her fist when she saw this.

She did not dare to believe it. Since her yelling at her parents a few days ago though she couldn't have the door close during the day. At least she'd have it closed at night most of the time.

Tears welled up in her eyes. Aurora silently sobbed, somehow despite everything she felt relieved.

Her relief didn't last long though, a bile raised to the back of her throat. Her eyes widened, she wanted to vomit badly and she knew she would not make it to the toilet in time.

'Blurgh!' Aurora vomited on the floor next to her bed. With nothing in her stomach but gastric acid. Her throat burned badly.

After finishing her head hung at the edge of the bed weakly. Breathing loudly from her mouth, almost gasping she knew something was wrong as a strong hot wave washed over her body.

She never felt like this before, her limbs felt like jello and she could feel her breath coming out hotter.

As the seconds ticked on Aurora's chest felt like it was constricting and loosening at the same time.

She wanted to shout for help, but she didn't have the energy to. Not only that but her throat burned. It came all too suddenly, one moment she was crying because she felt as if her family was finally willing to let her have complete privacy but then she was hunched over and vomiting.

Once again Aurora's eyes rolled back and she fainted. What Aurora didn't know was she had gotten sick. The normal standard cold is due to not properly covering her body.

After two minutes, her bedroom door knob turned and Renee entered carrying a plate with the BLT.

The scent of vomit assaulted Renee's nose as she opened the door. The plate in her hand fell to the floor as she screamed Aurora's name.

"Aurora!" Renee screamed rushing towards Aurora. She pulled the young woman into her arms that's when Anderson rushed in followed by Aiden and Cherise.

Grimly, Renee looked up and looked at Anderson. "She's so hot. Her skin feels like it's on fire. Andy, what do we do?"

"Go downstairs and pull the car out Aiden. You will drive, we're heading to the pack hospital." Anderson ordered as he stalked towards Renee pulling Aurora out of her mother's arms and lifting her in a princess carry. "Grab her blanket Renee and help me cover her."

The couple carefully wrapped Aurora in the blanket only leaving her head outside before rushing out of the house to the awaiting car.

Cherise led the way opening the car door so they can enter the car smoothly before rushing back and locking the door and then jumping into the front seat.

"Full speed ahead Aiden," Anderson ordered as he cradled Aurora more into his arms. Renee sat in the backseat with them and could only rub her daughter's back while sticking close to Anderson.

This was unexpected, no one would have thought she would get so sick after being alone for a few minutes.

What awaited the family would be a long night filled with stress and worries. But they won't be the only ones.

Jace was lying on top of the covers of his bed, his arm slung over his face covering his eyes, and his chest heaving up and down in a rush.

Nothing but the sound of his rapid breathing was the only heard in the room. If one looks closer at Jace's face the would see he was clenching his jaw.

The pain was intense, everything ached. Even breathing hurt. Jace knew he couldn't cry out. Once he did everything he was trying to endure on his own would become meaningless.

As Jace was struggling the unexpected happened. His wolf, Jut, spoke to him.

'It's almost time Jace. If you let go it will be faster.' Jut grunted to the distraught young man.

'No, I'll never let you go!' Jace grit his teeth harder as his mind linked his wolf back. 'I'll see this through til the end.'

After a long pause of silence, Jut said softly, ' The pain is going to get worse. This is not good

'I'm not afraid.' Jace firmly stated, Jut was helpless against Jace's stubbornness.

'I'm sorry Jace, you will learn to live without me eventually.' Jut told him, to Jace it meant Jut was getting ready to die. Jace had no idea how to survive without his wolf and before Jace could answer the pain doubled.

It took everything in him to not scream out. But Jace knew it won't be long before he screamed. It was so bad that sweat soaked his clothes while his muscles spasmed.

The pill bottle on the desk was very appealing to him. It felt so close yet so far at the same time. He had to take it, the pills worked so he needed them badly.

Jace rolled off his bed and hit the ground with a soft thud. A soft grunt escaped his lips when he hit the floor. Not caring if the noise woke anyone, he was focused on crawling to the desk.

Each movement he made tugged at his already aching muscles, By the time he reached his desk, Jace panting heavily he propped himself up to get the bottle.

He then proceeds to crawl to the bathroom. With the pill bottle in his hold. He could no longer contain his soft grunts.

Pulling himself up on the sink

Jace uncapped the bottle, uncapped it and threw all three pills in his mouth with water to stop the pain. He was relieved to have gotten the pills but even though he took them the pills, would take some time to react.

He could no longer hold it in, his screams of pain would escape his lips. Jace's body was caked in sweat. It look as if he was just freshly out of the shower.

Jace really tried his hardest not to scream, but he was fighting a losing battle as his scream woke everybody in the house. Jason, Hailey, and Henry all jumped off the beds and raced toward Jace's room After hearing that scream.
