Aiden was speechless, Aurora's tame version was unsettling to him, because if that was a tame version, then what did she truly feel?
But that wasn't the only thing that made Aiden speechless, the fact she swore at him made him speechless.
As her brother, he was an expert in making Aurora so mad at him. He'd pull pranks and make her mad or just annoy her to the point she want to hit him.
Even when they had a serious falling out to the point where they were fighting in wolf form, Aurora never cussed him out so plainly before.
"Did you just curse me?" Aiden stupidly asked her, but Aurora was in her bubble again. She didn't turn her head to look at him nor did she speak again. When he realized this, he moved off the bed and crouched down in front of her.
"Aurora!' Aiden grabbed her hands which were placed on her lap and gently pulled them as he called out her name. It was useless. No amount of tugging or calling out her name made her move again. Renee, who had just come back into the house from running errands, heard Aiden calling out to Aurora.
Concerned, she climbed the stairs and made her way into Aurora's room. "Aiden? Something's wrong?"
Aiden turned to face his mother and shook his head. "Nothing, let's give her some space." Aiden stood up and walked towards his mother, who was standing in the doorframe. The two left without saying another word out loud, leaving Aurora sitting there staring at the rain.
Only five minutes passed since Renee and Aiden left. Aurora stood up. She turned and went into the bathroom closing the door behind her.
Lifting the toilet seat, she crouched and gagged. The tips of her fingers turned pale due to her strong grip on the toilet bowl, then she gagged again.
'Blurg!'
The sound of her vomit hitting the toilet bowl, the sick feeling in her stomach only intensified as vomit rushed out of her mouth.
Aurora stayed crouched down in front of the toilet and puked until she emptied her entire stomach into the toilet bowl.
She flushed the toilet and tried to stand, her legs went numb from all the crouching. As she tried to stand she fell to her hands and knees.
That's when a sudden bout of dizziness hit her. Before she had time to register what was going on she fainted on the cold tile on the bathroom floor.
Jace sat down at the desk in his room, Henry was sitting on his poorly made bed as he listened to his brother's soft lecture.
"Any questions?" Jace asked him, Henry shook his head and closed the book on his lap. "Okay well if you have any questions come to ask."
Henry began to stand up but sat back down, Jace frowned slightly as he saw this action and looked at Henry questioningly.
"We noticed you know." Henry pursed his lips as he told him. "Stop pretending, Jace. Your clothes are getting too big for you."
Jace looked at Henry and smiled, not saying a word. This only made Henry frustrated, he couldn't understand why Jace or his parents pretend that everything is alright.
"This is nothing to be smiling about Jace, I'm worried. Please," Henry's voice was pleading, and Jace's smile slipped. His face was expressionless and it only made Henry see how waned Jace was.
His already sharp jawline became more pronounced. His dark brown eyes looked sunken and he had dark circles around his eyes.
Jace's skin was pale, almost greyish and his lips were the only flush of color on his face. Although he tried hard to hide it by properly dressing up and brushing his hair a few faint stress lines appeared on Jace's face.
"God, Jace. " Henry cried. "I can't see you like this anymore. It's so hard to look at you and pretend. I don't care if you want to pretend but I don't want to anymore."
Henry pulled out a pill bottle from his backpack and stood up gathering his things. He walked towards Jace and placed the bottle filled with pink colored pills down on the desk next to his hand.
"What's this?" Jace asked Henry as he picked up the label-less bottle and briefly shook it.
"Human painkillers," Henry answered as he fixed his bag on his shoulder. "You're too proud to ask for help and I know you're in constant pain"
"Where did you get this?" Jace questioned Henry. "There are no humans here where did you get this?"
"The head pack doctor," Henry answered, "She got a bunch of human medicines for you and Aurora."
"Don't go to anyone for medicine, my pain is manageable," Jace told Henry.
"If I have to, I'll go again. And I know that what's done can't be undone and that you'll never go back to being the person you use to be but it's like you're forcing yourself for our sakes and I hate that. Stop trying to force yourself to appear okay, it's alright to not be. So just take care of yourself!" Henry said angrily before storming out of Jace's room and slamming the door behind him.
Leaving Jace alone. He looked at the closed door and sighed, playing with the pill bottle absentmindedly.
Henry wanted him to live for himself but as the days went by and his wolf was getting weaker and weaker while the pain intensifies.
Jace had no will to live for himself, the inevitable was that his wolf was going to die soon, very soon.
Jace didn't know what that meant for him but seeing that Aurora was still alive until now without a wolf meant it was manageable to live with a wolf.
That was his deduction on the matter, but as mentioned before each day that went by the weaker his body became the more intensely he felt the pain.
Jace placed down the pill bottle and pulled the desk drawer. He grabbed two tissues from the box of tissue and coughed into them.
Wiping his mouth the spare he pulled back to see the streak of red on the tissues.
'It's getting worse.' he thought to himself as he stared at the pill bottle. 'I guess taking two won't hurt.'
Jace opened the bottle and shook out two pills, using his free hand he balled up the tissues and stood up to go to his bathroom.
Jace chucked the tissues into the toilet before popping the pills into his mouth. He opened the tap and drank water directly from the facet swallowing the water and pills along with it.
Closing the tap he then flushed the bloodied tissues and left the bathroom. While this may have seemed quick it wasn't.
Jace's entire body screamed in pain when he moved. This series of actions actually took him a while to finish. And as he dragged himself to his bed falling head first.
The painkillers began to take effect. It was the best he had felt in days. This led him to fall asleep peacefully, even though the pain still racked his body, it was the best sleep he had gotten in a long time.
Jace had discovered the wonders of painkillers.
When Aurora came to she was on her bed tucked in with one hand out from under the covers and that hand was being held by a bigger hand which was warm and rough at the same time.
Aurora weakly opened his eyes to see her father holding her hand.
"Dad," she said weakly getting the older man's attention. "What happened?"
"You fainted on the bathroom floor," Anderson told her quietly. His face filled with sadness and self-loathing.
"Oh, I guess I am a little light head still. Nothing a good meal can't fix right?" Aurora smiled jokingly. Anderson didn't answer instead he stared at her silently. "What is it?"
"Have I done something stupid?" He asked her. "Would you have rathered going to the council?"
"What's done is done dad," Aurora told him which made him grimace. "I don't care about the rejection. My problem is my wolf. I just want her back."
"There is no magic in the world that can bring her back," Anderson mumbled.
"I know, this is only temporary soon I'll get better." Aurora squeezed her father's hand to reassure him.
Anderson wasn't reassured, "When they found you, you were bleeding. Your nose was bleeding."
"I must have hit it when I fell. That's nothing to worry about." Aurora frowned as she said. Actually, she can't remember what happened in the few seconds before she fainted.
Anderson stared at Aurora long and hard. He pulled her hand gently to his face.
"I just want to protect you." Anderson cried as he held her hand to his face. "I thought this was the best option without getting involved with the council. But I was wrong, I failed you, Rory. I failed you!"
As Aurora lay there in shock, she could feel her father's tears on the back of her hand. She was a
ready suffering and didn't think anything else could make it worse.
She was wrong, her father. The strongest man or werewolf she knew was balling his eyes out because of his guilt towards her.
This heavy feeling, this suffocating heavy feeling she always felt these days just intensified.
