Chapter 39 - Rejecting A Wolf

The young man let out a shaky breath, stepping back he turned and looked at the half-lycan on the ground, being restrained by the witch Nick.

He wanted to finish him to kill the half Lycan. This girl was his mate! He knew it wasn't possible but the fact that she was this hurt made his blood boil.

"We don't have time for this, nor do we have the proper tools to kill it! Think about this girl she needs medical attention." The young woman stopped him.

"Where there's a half lycan there's the council. We need to leave now!" Nick, the witch spoke up after calming down from his shock.

The young man was reluctant, but knowing these two were speaking the truth. He moved forward and took Aurora from the young woman's arms.

"Let's go Dillion, and Nick wipe our scents from here." Nick nodded and did just that as Dillion and the young man walked toward him.

Conjuring a spell, the four of them disappeared from the clearing and straight back to the pack house.

The young man moved and placed Aurora on a bed. Nick then gave Dillion a look, in which she moved and pulled the young man out of the room.

"Let's leave the doctor to work right." Dillion said as she pulled him out of the room."Besides, I think we should talk."

"Talk?" The young man grimaced. "My mate's life hangs on the balance and you want to talk?"

"Well yes Tom, because you're forgetting something crucial!" Dillion exclaimed as she closed the door. "Your fucking mate is dead! How the fuck do you have a new one!"

Tom pursed his lips. "How am I supposed to know that Dillion?"

"Not to mention a fucking half-lycan popping up near us is not good news," Dillion stressed.

"You think I don't know that Dillion! My brain can't take anymore right now, I have a mate, Goddamn mate, and she just popped up right in front of me."Tom pinched the bridge of his nose while closing his eyes.

"Well stranger things happen," Dillion mumbled.

"No, being mated outside of our race ain't strange. Having another mate is a whole new playing field. Do you have any idea what the council would do if they knew of this?"Tom said, and Dillion went silent.

"Let's just wait on Nick's diagnosis." Dillion finally replied, and the two went to sit down. An hour later, Nick emerged from the room while drying his hands.

"Well, the half-lycan did some damage. I won't go too deep with the details but the most concerning thing right now is if she'll wake up." Nick told them.

"She's stable?" Tom asked Nick, who nodded. "Ah, thank God."

"There's one thing I'm concerned about though," Nick told them, the two looked at him with questioning gazes. "That human had a tracking spell on her, it was put on her by a powerful witch."

"You don't mean...."Dillion froze and glance at Tom silently.

"Did you wipe it?" Tom asked and Nick nodded. "She's human?"

"From what I can tell, she's human." Nick nodded and told them. "How did a human get into werewolf territory and into the hands of a half-lycan?"

"Unless, what if she was a werewolf?" Tom asked, "What if that half-lycan was her mate."

"Oh my god! Do you know what this means? Tom, our pack will be endangered. Nick and I will be endangered" Dillion said anxiously.

"No you won't be, I've told you to take your mate and go to human territory. Yet you refuse," Tom calmly said. "Dillion, you and Nick need to get out of werewolf territory. If what we guess is true, that girl is in danger."

"No! I'm not leaving you behind Tom, I'll never leave you behind!" Dillion snapped at Tom. Nick pursed his lips and didn't say anything.

"What's more important, Dillion, me or your son?" Tom asked causing both Dillion and Nick's faces to darken.

"That's a low fucking blow. How could you ask me to choose between you and him." Dillion said through gritted teeth, her eyes turned red as she glared at Tom.

"You're not choosing, I am. Nick, take your family and leave. If the council finds your child, God knows what they do to him," Tom told Nick.

"And if I leave what happens to her?" Nick points to the closed door. "I'm the only doctor this pack has. I can protect my family when the time comes. I'll gladly abandon you."

Tom looked at his two friends and sighed. They were too stubborn for their own good.

"Well, I'm curious as to which pack our new friend comes from." Tom changed the topic, and the mates look at each other in triumph.

Morel stood up, and Nailiah managed to help Jace breathe again. As she stood she felt her connection with Aurora cut off.

Earlier the connection was actively humming indicating danger but if she left Jace would have died she could only point out the direction it was coming from yet as that happened. It would take a while for the wolves searching west to head south.

When she felt the connection suddenly still after the humming of the connection, she thought Aurora was safe at least for now. But now with the connection completely gone.

It only meant one thing, Aurora was dead.

Morel's pupils shrank as she doubled over, she place her hand on the wall to support her body. Her mind quickly denied it. But other than death what else could it be? It was unlikely to be another witch as witches hate wolves.

That left the only logical explanation. Aurora died. Alaric killed her.

"What's wrong?" Henry saw Morel like this he went over and asked.

"You can mind link, Anderson, right?" Morel asked slowly. Henry nodded silently at her question. "Then you tell him the spell I placed on Aurora is gone. I think she's dead!"

Henry's eyes widened as he gasp. He looked at Morel again and she nodded. "Are you sure? I mean this is..."

"My magic never fails, There's no way another witch would be in werewolf territory let alone save Aurora. The only explanation is death. I would contact him myself but I used up a lot of magic to keep Jace alive."Morel explained, Henry slumped with a frown and nodded his head as he proceed to mind-link Anderson.

"It's done," Henry mumbled stiffly. Morel patted the young boy on his shoulder before falling to her knees. She was more tired now than she was earlier.

"Maybe she's wrong! Maybe Rory's alive, you heard Henry. It could be another witch it can be an exception." Aiden paced in front of his father, who sat on a rock with his head in his hands.

"No there's no exception if Morel says that it's gone then Rory is dead," Anderson answered.

"How could you say that? There's always an exception!" Aiden roared in rage he refused to believe his little sister was dead.

"There is no exception because Morel is the exception! No other race gets involved with werewolves because of the council. The countless wars and lives lost because of werewolves cannot be determined. No witch is crazy enough to live in werewolf territory." Anderson bellowed.

"No! I refused to believe she's dead," Aiden glared at his father.

"She hated us anyway, what does it matter if she's dead or not?" Anderson asked in a low tone.

"Stop it, that's not going to this better and you know it. We fucked up, every moment after the rejection we fucked up. Especially you dad, your arrogance and fear cause this to happen." Aiden told his father.

"You think I don't know that!" Anderson shouted, "I'm to blame for this, everything I did was out of fear for my daughter. That fear clouded my judgment and now there's hell to pay."

"She's not dead dad, she can't be," Aiden repeated, Anderson looked at Aiden who looked back.

"Then find her before the council does. Send your mate, mother, and brother out of the pack with Morel." Anderson ordered as he stood up. His aura swirled around him making Aiden bare his neck slightly to him.

"Dad, you don't mean....." Aiden gasped out under the pressure of Anderson's aura.

"Somebody has to pay for it, I'm going to take as much of the blame and rest it on my shoulders," Anderson walked towards Aiden who had his head bowed and squeezed his shoulder. "If you find her, tell her that I am sorry."

"Dad you can't!" Aiden cried. Anderson only patted his son's shoulder and hid his aura.

"It's too late, word has probably already spread. As soon as punishment is handed down, send your mother, brother, and mate away. And don't say anything about his. It's the only way." Anderson told Aiden.

Aiden and Anderson stared at each other grimly, this was when they both were mind linked.

"We found Alaric. He's at the west border!"
