Aurora sat there stunned in silence after hearing what her father had to tell her. Everything was perfectly fine. She came down after having a shower and washing her hair.
The family sat and had breakfast, Aurora ate her apple, waiting on Aiden to give her the green light to head to Jace's house, and her father stopped her.
He explained everything calmly to Aurora. She was so stunned that she couldn't even speak.
"You're sending us away," Aurora finally spoke. The disbelief in her voice was heavy. It was just so unbelievable that they would do such a thing.
"It's to protect you, besides I think it's a great idea. You have those smartphones we got you. Learning to use them was easy enough. Plus, Morel will watch over you guys." Anderson stated, and Aurora placed her hand on her chest in amazement. Before glancing at everyone else.
Nobody met her gaze, they knew! They all knew. Disgust was bubbling up, but she pushed it down.
"You told me to accept rejection, I did it and lost my wolf in the process. You told me I'd harm myself, so I restrained my grief. Now you're telling me that I have to leave because of rumors?"
"Sweetheart, it's not like that," Renee couldn't help but say something, but Aurora shot her a glare.
"Shut up. I'm not talking to you!" Aurora all but snarled before turning her gaze back at Anderson. "I lost my wolf because Alaric got Maya pregnant. You didn't get me justice you only brought me sorrow, so tell me why do I have to go while they get to live fucking happily?"
"Aurora don't be unreasonable, this baby Maya has in her belly couldn't be killed the Lynx family was cursed by a powerful witch back in the day and no witch will ever lift the curse. This is not only about you but for the stability of the pack." Anderson reasoned, but Aurora's gaze turned colder.
"You aren't from this pack. Even if they destabilize, it should have no consequence for you. I am your daughter, your only daughter! And this is what you plan to do to me!" Aurora shouted, rising from her seat.
"Everything I did was for you! There was no way out! The pack couldn't be without an heir, even if Maya went full term and you mated with Alaric you would have killed the baby any chance you got! Not only you but Jace too!" Anderson rose and placed his hands on the table as he raised his voice and firmly explained.
"One babe dying wouldn't have been of any consequence! I would still have my wolf."Aurora spat. Her eyes slowly turned from coldness to hatred.
"How could you say that!" Anderson was flabbergasted at her attitude.
"How could you abandon me!" Aurora shot back.
"I never abandoned you. Everything I did up till now was to keep you safe! Stop being a brat and try and understand the bigger picture."Anderson slammed his hand down on the table.
"Bigger picture? If you guys are so fixated on a male heir, you'd think you'd remember that a girl can also be born unto the Lynx family. Kill the boy, but raising the girl as an alpha would have solved the issue!" Anderson looked at Aurora and scoffed.
"There's never been a female alpha in our history as a race!" Anderson closed his eyes, "The council would have never allowed it. The only choice to protect you from yourself, to protect you from killing an innocent baby was to have the rejection."
"Don't sugar coat this you fucking narcissistic asshole! You made the rejection possible because it's what you thought was right. You tricked the Maddox family into this just as you tricked me."Aurora pointed her index finger at Anderson, her face over comedy with rage.
"Why can't a girl become alpha? Without female wolves, do you think you would have any offspring without females? The moon goddess is a woman, is she not? If you just had an open mind, then my life wouldn't have been ruined! You killed Ren. You all are just as guilty as Alaric and Maya. If you just had an open mind, this wouldn't have happened."Aurora screeched. Without bothering to hear Anderson reply, she stormed off. Running up the stairs to her room, slamming the door behind her.
Renee, Aiden, and Cherise all glanced at each other uneasily as they saw Anderson rush out after being stunned by Aurora's words.
The three then got up and hurriedly followed Anderson into Aurora's bedroom.
"That is not fair Aurora, yes I have some blame in the matter, but this is for your protection." Anderson took a breath calming himself as he told Aurora.
"Get the fuck out of my face and out of my room. you disgust me. Everything is about protecting me? Well, I don't feel protected.
I feel betrayed. "Aurora glared at Anderson, the hatred she felt was spilling over.
He could feel it, she hated him but not him. She hated them all. Renee, after seeing her daughter's gaze, she decided not to let Anderson talk anymore.
"Rory, it's not easy for us either. Do you think we want to send you away? You're our baby girl. We can't change the past, but we can try to make a better future. You can't stay in the pack it's too risky." Aurora's eyes meet her mother's. The hate in them slowly receded. Aurora was silent for a minute or two as she bowed her head in silence.
This gave the four adults time to talk to each other in the mind link after thinking Renee somewhat pacified Aurora a bit.
"I don't hate you, Hatred requires me to give a fuck about you. But I won't anymore. Because I obeyed, I lost my wolf, the other half of my soul. You never told me I'd lose her, yet I never blamed you until today. And now you want me to leave? How is that fair to ask? Why are you doing this to me? How is it that I'm suffering while Maya and Alaric can parade around the pack being the future alpha and Luna?"
"What about me? What about how I feel? You had everything planned out, give us smartphones for us to integrate ourselves into so it wouldn't be so hard to transition into human society. You no better than fucking mindless animals!" Aurora spoke up, stunning everyone.
"Now Aurora, don't say things you don't mean," Aiden couldn't help but tell his sister, but as she raised her eyes and met his, he felt cold all over.
"I don't mean this? Then take this as what I truly mean with every fiber of my being. If I have to leave, and they (Alaric and Maya) won't suffer the consequences of their action, fine!" She paused."But you will!"
"Rory, please I...." Renee began, but Aurora cut her off immediately.
"Why are you still here? Trying to disgust me? Forget about me and focus on giving birth to your son. Goddess knows how sons have more value than daughters."Aurora sneered.
"But I'm not giving birth yet," Renee said with a frown. She wanted to move closer to Aurora, but a sharp pain shot through her body.
Moving her hand to her stomach, she knew that she was going into labor. How did Aurora guess that? Renee looked at Aurora, who gazed back.
Her gaze was tranquil like water. It was as if she was looking at a stranger rather than her mother.
Tears stung Renee's eyes. She would rather be hated by Aurora. Anything but this cold, distant gaze was better.
