Chapter 23 - The Lycan King's Gamma

Gamma Kailen Steele

It startled me awake when my body jumped. Before I opened my eyes, I knew I was in a vehicle. I could hear the hum of the engine. I felt fingers playing with my hair. My body stiffened when I smelt him.

“I know you’re awake, babygirl.” A voice whispered into my ear. My heart pounded against my chest as the memories from earlier finally formed in my mind. I never wanted to hear his voice or feel his touch ever again.

I noticed my head was lying in his lap. And I jolted up and tried to move away from him to the other side of the car. He was watching me intently as I tried to make myself as small as possible. My mind was racing and I couldn’t remember any of my training. I felt helpless and broken again. Tears started falling down my cheeks as I stared at my captor.

“Kailen, there’s no need to be afraid. I’m taking you home.” Marcus said, and I choked on the sob that was trying to escape.

“If this is about money, I can pay you. Whatever you want?” I whispered. He moved closer to me and pushed his body into mine. I let out a whimper when he lifted my chin so I would look at him.

“Money is money. This is about you. You are mine, my Luna, and I’m never letting you go again.” He whispered, kissing my cheek.

“Please, let me go.” I whispered, trying to hold back my sobs. I trained and worked my ass off for the last four years, and none of that matters now.

“Not a chance. I know that Prince Hunter is planning on marking you. You are mine and I will be the only marking you.” He growled.

“Please.” I tried to plead. He backhanded me and my head whipped into the window of the door. My vision went black and I could feel blood running down my cheek. I could taste the metallic taste of my blood in my mouth.

My vision quickly came back, and I looked over at him. He was furious and I could feel it radiating off his body.

“Kailen, don’t fight. You are still healing.” Aurora said in my head.

“Look what you made me do. Now you are bleeding.” I pulled away from him after he tried to touch my forehead. He sighed, grabbing a towel. He gripped my chin and pushed the towel on my cut. I cried out from the pain.

“You could have avoided all of this if you would just listen and did what you were told,” he said. I couldn’t answer him. I was on the verge of a panic attack. My entire body was shaking, and I knew he could smell my fear.

He wiped my face and tossed the towel on the floor of the SUV we were in. There was glass separating the back and front areas. He sat back in his seat and rested his arm on the top of the seats.

“Now, get over here.” He demanded. And I just looked at him.

“I won’t ask again.” He growled out. I moved to sit closer to him, knowing that if I didn’t give in to his demands, he was going to beat me. He put his arm around my shoulders and pulled me to his side.

He moved his face into my neck and inhaled deeply. I felt him run his tongue up the side of my neck to my ear and I let out a whimper. My eyes filled with tears and I had to try to slow my breathing.

“I missed you babygirl.” He whispered in my ear.

“We can finally be together. I can finally mark you.” He said before he nipped at my neck, making me jump. I tried to move away from him, but he held me in place.

“You’re not getting away from me this time.” He gripped my shoulder painfully, and I whimpered. I hated how weak I felt. If it was anyone else, I would have killed them already, but with Marcus, I know what he was capable of.

Even in my constant state of panic and fear, I feel asleep. I woke up with a start and sat up with a wince. My abdomen aches after being curled up for too long.

“What’s wrong?” Marcus asked me, and I shook my head.

“Kailen, don’t lie to me.” He growled. I dropped my head down and focused on my fingers in my lap. Marcus pushed his knuckles into my back, making me cry out in pain.

He lifted my shirt to look at the mess that still covered my back. He ran his fingers down my back, and I winced when his fingers ran over the open skin.

“Who did this to you?” He growled out. And I flinched.

“It was nobody.” I whimpered. Before he could push any further for answers, there was a knock on his window. I hadn’t realized we had stopped.

“You will stay by my side and you will not speak a word to anyone, I’m I clear?.” He demanded, and I nodded.

He grabbed my hand and opened the door. I winced when he pulled me out of the vehicle. I was unsteady on my feet and he wrapped an arm around my waist.

“Alpha, everything is ready.” One of the men spoke. I looked up at Marcus and he was smirking. I had no idea that he was an alpha. Why the hell would he want me? Why would an alpha not look for his fated mate? I was confused and my mind was racing as he dragged me along with him into what I assumed was the pack house.

“I’ll be in my office in 10.” Marcus spoke as we entered the foyer of the house. He led me up a few flights of stairs. I was looking around the building. I don’t remember ever being here. Everything was modern, dark floors, white walls. This place was beautiful, even if it was my prison.

Marcus finally stopped at a double door. He pulled out his keys with his free hand and opened the door. I stumbled when he pushed me in. He locked the door behind us.

I turned around to find his wolf’s dark grey eyes watching me. I gulped and tried to move back, further away from him. I didn’t even get a chance to look at my surroundings.

My back hit a wall, and Marcus stalked towards me with a satisfying smile on his face. He pushed his body into mine, and I could feel how hard he was. He pushed his dick into my thigh.

I let out a whimper when he grabbed my hips. My arms went to his chest to push him away, but he’s feet were planted and he wouldn’t budge. He grabbed my hands and held them above my head while he pushed his face into my neck.

Tears started to flow down my cheeks, as my body was trembling in fear.

“I have a meeting but then I’ll be back to make you mine.” He mumbled into my neck. My heart was beating against my ribs and my stomach was in knots, thinking about wearing his mark.

I needed Hunter. I’m not strong enough to get out of here. He moved away from my neck and smashed his lips against mine. He pushed his tongue inside and was tasting every inch of me.

He finally pulled away from me, and I was able to breathe again. Marcus rested his forehead against mine. He brought his hand up to my cheek, and I flinched when he wiped away a tear. Marcus sighed.

“I’m glad you’re finally home, babygirl.” He kissed my forehead before he turned on his heel. He walked over to the door and exited the room. I heard him lock the door from the outside and I knew I was trapped.

I slid down the wall, ignoring the pain in my back. I rested my head on my knees and sobbed. I didn’t even bother looking around the room. I had completely given up. I knew I wasn’t going to make it out here alive this time.

“Kailen, I won’t let him mark us. Hunter’s mark is almost healed, and the bond is almost complete. He won’t be able to even try once it’s healed.” Aurora reassured me.

“It doesn’t matter. I can’t live like this again.” I cried.

“You have me and we will get through this. Hunter and Rex will come for us. They will never leave us.” Aurora whimpered.

“I want to believe he will come. I want to believe that he loves us enough to save us. But I can’t be disappointed again. My heart can’t take another rejection.” I sobbed. I could hear her whimpering in my head.

I don’t know how long I sat there on the floor, sobbing. Hearing the key turn in the lock pulled me from my thoughts. I looked up at the door to see Marcus entering.

He hasn’t changed at all. The only thing that’s new is the scar along his jaw. I found myself wondering where he got it from. I’m not sure why I even cared.

I heard him lock the door behind him. He walked over to me and knelt down.

“Let’s get you cleaned up, babygirl.”
