Around 5 pm I pull up to the address Zander gave me. His sports car is already parked in the driveway on the left side, so I park my pristine white Suzuki Swift next to him.
It's a cute little cottage, a classic English white, and grey old-style cottage, with a white picket fence all around the garden, you can see some of the fence beams have been damaged over the years. There is an archway leading to the front door with a little gate that opens as you walk through.
The cottage has overgrown shrubs and vines running all through and around the front of the house. The flower bushes have gone crazy running along the fence line, and it seems that someone hasn't looked after the place in years. Almost as if it is deserted.
There are a few houses around but you couldn't see them for a few miles. I passed them on my way here. It is a beautiful place to grow up if you had a wolf to run around in the back woodlands.
The sun is starting to set, splashing the sky in pinks and orange.
I was starting to get more nervous about moving forward with Zander. This would be the first time we would be together without any interruptions, the first time to spend some quality time together and not have to worry about anyone else.
I try to psych myself up to get out of the car, Kia was bouncing around all happy we were seeing our mate. 'Come on, it'll be okay. He is waiting, and so is Jace. He can sense us from here.'
I internally groan Damn her and her logical thinking.
It’s too late, I can't turn back now, I’m already here. I slowly get out of the car and make my way through the gate towards the front door. Inhale, exhale, inhale, exhale... I had to remind myself several times.
As soon as I smell his scent, Kia goes crazy, making me even more nervous. I'm not saying we will be mating and marking tonight. No, no. We still have a lot of stuff to sort out before we get to that point. For one thing, I have never been in the same room alone with Zander Blackwood, other than in that tiny closet at school and well, I was a nervous wreck with that.
I want to know I can trust him, and maybe actually get to know him for him rather than knowing what he is like at school or around friends and all the rumours that go around. I close my eyes as I reach the front door and raise my hand to knock.
Tap, tap, tap.
I hear heavy footsteps making their way towards the front door his scent becoming stronger and stronger with each step. The door swings open to reveal him standing there looking like the most beautiful thing I have ever seen. He's in dark jeans with a short-sleeved tee and comfy vans. His dark beautiful hair is slicked back so it doesn't get in the way of his eyes.
My breath hitches and I blink up at him giving a small smile, which is all I can muster with his scent of wildflower and honey surrounding me … invading my senses. It makes it hard to concentrate to find the right words to speak.
His eyes gaze at me longingly as I stand there, in jeans and a light blue long-sleeved top that reaches down to my bottom. I thought as a nice gesture I would wear the hairpiece he gave me yesterday, so my hair is tied neatly behind and held by the hairpiece.
After about a minute of us both standing there in silence, he finally breaks the awkwardness and speaks first.
"Hey," he mumbles with a smile.
I frown... maybe I wasn't the only nervous one.
"Hey," I smiled back.
"Come on in. Can I get you anything? Have you had dinner? I wasn't sure what was here, so I ran by the shops before I arrived and grabbed a few things." He starts to ramble.
I smile, "ahh, no, I haven't had anything yet. I had a busy day, so no haven’t had anything yet”
He nods and steps aside to let me through. As I pass him I feel a wave of tingles shoot through me when my shoulder grazed his rock-hard chest.
'Mate, mate, mate,' Kia chants as she bounces around like a little pup. I am 100% sure my eyes are dark and Kia is flashing through making herself present.
I look up to see Zander's eyes had also changed to a dark shade as his wolf tries to push forward in response to Kia.
I sigh. Why couldn't they go in the back of our minds and communicate that way instead of making things harder here?
"Sorry, Kia is a little excited," I say to him.
He grins. "It's all good, , Maybe later on we can introduce them to each other."
Kia pushes forward before I could answer "I will hold that to you, mate" she purrs and takes a step closer to Zander making sure the gap between us is smaller than I'd like.
Zander chuckles at her comment, lifts his hand to cup my cheek, and kisses me on the head. I could feel my cheeks flush with embarrassment and pleasure as the fiery tingles fill my body once more.
